I'm pretty sure Fox owns that. ;)

Wouldn't this poll only make sense for those that own both formats?

If you only own a HD DVD player...why buy on Blu-ray?

I agree, seems pretty silly to me.

Rusty James 10-07-07 12:13 AM

All of 'em on HD-DVD for me. Wish they were coming out with Barry Lyndon as well.

ian959 10-07-07 12:35 AM

2001, FMJ and The Shining on HD-DVD. 2001 is the film that made me finally jump into the world of HD.

EWS is a load of rubbish irrespective of format and ACO is possibly the most overrated film of all time - all IMHO of course.

Fixed. :)

Supermallet 10-07-07 03:34 AM

You're both wrong, Eyes Wide Shut is a fitting coda to Kubrick's work, 2001 is the best film ever made, and A Clockwork Orange is hovering somewhere in the top 10.

fiver 10-07-07 10:04 AM

All 5 on HD-DVD. I've been watching the discs from the original SD DVD release and have been chomping at the bit to upgrade finally now that it looks like these movies are finally being done right.

I pre-ordered all of them on HD DVD. Can't believe I've held off on the SD versions for so long.

QuePaso 10-07-07 10:44 AM

All 5 on BD.

Subgeniusguy 10-07-07 12:37 PM

Ordered all on HD DVD because I don't have a BR player. TV is FUBARed at the moment though.

Dan 10-07-07 01:17 PM

All five on HD DVD because that's the only format I currently support. :)

ryuryu2949 10-07-07 04:41 PM

Getting 4 (not eyes wide shut), each on the Blu.

Mr. Cinema 10-07-07 07:55 PM

I'm getting them all on HD DVD, because I think Warner will choose to be exclusive sometime in 2008.

Sanitarium 10-07-07 10:25 PM

2001 and The Shining are the ones I want. 2001 was the main reason for me getting the 360 HD-DVD drive.

True_Story1011 10-07-07 11:35 PM

anyone else notice the amount of people purchasing HD compared to BD? I really thought that BD would've won this in a landslide blow-out.

2:1, huh?

Unfortunately, the average PS3 owner doesn't care about Academy Award winners as much as the latest action flick.
Which is why Letters from Iwo Jima sold 20,200 copies on Blu-ray and only 12,600 on HD DVD.

On-topic: I still haven't decided what to buy. I have an HD DVD player, but I might be buying a PS3 by the time the Kubricks come out.

DamingR 10-08-07 08:40 AM

This is actually a very timely thread because I have been trying to decide which to buy. I think HD-DVD is a better product for consumers, but my PS3 is much faster than my HD-A1 and has no compatability problems. Of course, I get TrueHD from my A1 and not my PS3 because I don't have a HDMI receiver.

It's a tough call, but I think I'll end up with the BR discs just because my PS3 is so much faster and nicer than the A1.

Oliver Clothesoff 10-08-07 09:04 AM

I'm getting the HD versions of all. bought them straight from WHV, so I hope they get their shipping problems taken care of by then...

bunkaroo 10-08-07 09:38 AM

Normally I buy WB on Blu-Ray to avoid the combo.

Even though that's not an issue here, I am still going with the Blu-Ray's, mostly because my personal experience has been that black level is better from my BDP-S1 than my A1 or A20.

Once you get a HDMI receiver,
IMO TrueHD on the PS3 >> TrueHD on the A1... it's a Toshiba thing. :D2:
