Triple dip coming up for me.

I got the Korean SE on eBay a while back, then the US release came out. Now, the HD is a nobrainer for me.

I can understand people thinking it is over-rated. A lot of films that are truly unique can be a hit or miss proposition. It is not a traditional SCI-FI or fantasy film. It is not a traditional Fairy Tale. It is certainly not a typical war drama. But the blend of genres worked perfectly for me.

When I saw it in the theater, I was blown away. We sat there for 2 or 3 minutes after the credits ended. It will grow on people that are willing to let it do so.

It's not for everyone, but it will stay with me for a long time.

HD-DVD for me since my XA2 player can now send the DTS HD-MA 7.1 track to my Onkyo 605 receiver.

In fact, all my New Line purchases will be HD-DVD til Sony updates the PS3 so it can do the same.

I'm on the fence about this one. Didn't the SD have a good transfer? This would be my 3rd dip as well since I bought the leather-book R3 and the 2-disc R1. I'll probably wait for a review before deciding if it's worth the upgrade or not.

FWIW, Roger Ebert recently put this film at #1 in his top ten best of 2006 list.

As good as the package looks, I hope they consider this a "semi-new release" and that's why the MSRP is high. I hope that's not going to be their standard price for catalog titles.

Good thing I waited...HD is a definite purchase for me. And it's totally a no-brainer.

New Line, pretty please give us Boogie Nights in HD?

FWIW, the HBO-HD broadcast looked noticeably better to me than the upconverted DVD. I imagine the HD disc will be a marked improvement over the HD broadcast.

Looking forward to picking this up. As someone who just watched The Lives of Others recently, Del Toro easily deserved the Oscar.

I'm a little worried about this after the awful transfer on the SD. The first time I saw Pan's it was on a Christie HD Projector with Del Torro in attendance, and while it looked better it wasn't jaw dropping even using a 80k+ projector.
