Yeah, I remember that. IIRC, it sold somewhere around 6-7k its first week.

Why a 7.1 track for Hannah Montana, yet the demographic would prefer that for No Country for Old Men or The Prestige? I'll be honest, Disney is easily turning itself around in terms of home video with Blu-ray; for every crap new movie, they put out The Rock with all the Criterion extras and released the best picture quality disc available so far (No Country), but I really can't think many people who are buying Hannah Montana for their children have fancy 7.1 setups, when those people more likely (A) don't have kids and/or (B) are more inclined to more adult-oriented titles.

They may just be getting into it now, and that title's being released around the time they start. Hardly anybody was remixing for 7.1 when The Prestige was released.

That's a very odd catalog title to release.

Maybe it's to ride the coattails of all of the press Mike Myers'll be doing for The Love Guru.

Coverart is crap.

I don't get why the original one-sheet art wasn't used.

Definitely has to be the reason. It would be nice if New Line threw out an Austin Powers boxset also.

I don't really know if Mike Myers was in any other Sony title...but So I Married an Axe Murdered....Their has got to be a better film he was in that they could release, right?

Cool. Now I can delete the HDNet Movies broadcast I have sitting on my DVR. BTW, I hope the Blu-ray version looks a lot better than that one.

No, that's it. Myers' cinematic successes pretty much boil down to the Shrek, Austin Powers, and Wayne's World series (though he was good in 54).

DVDEmpire just listed the following Blu-Ray:

Fool's Gold 6/17
Human Body: Pusing the Limits (Discovery) 7/29

bunkaroo 04-08-08 11:30 AM

Screw you all. SIMAAM his hilarious.

Not something I was dying to have in HD, but I'll take it.

It's not enough of an insult that this week I'm forced to buy 'There Will Be Blood' and 'Lost Highway' on SD, but now I find out that Larry The Cable Guy's latest is getting a Blu-Ray release?

I am seriously regretting having bought a BR player.

It takes time to get discs authored and then pressed. Paramount and Universal have only had 2 months to even start preparing movies for BD. Once they start releasing titles, you'll be glad you own a BD player. I'm looking forward to getting movies from all the major studios on 1 format.

Zen Peckinpah 04-08-08 02:03 PM

Still, anything with Larry the Cable Guy doesn't even deserve a Betamax or UMD release. Cars is excluded since it's animated and he's not the main character.

No official release date yet, but it looks like 'Firefly' is confirmed.

Oh hell yeah!!!!!!

mdc3000 04-08-08 04:30 PM

I'll be in for Firefly! That is good news.

bunkaroo 04-08-08 05:05 PM

Firefly - awesome. Haven't watched it in a few years - I'll be waiting for this one.

Hopefully we'll catch a decent release day price, as I expect the list price will be near $100.

Zen Peckinpah 04-08-08 06:15 PM

According to the Digital Bits' rumor mill, everyone's favorite damn dirty apes are getting cleaned up by Fox for a Blu-ray box set. In wake of Charlton Heston's passing, this is great news; I'll definitely grab the original.

True_Story1011 04-08-08 10:27 PM

I thought this was an announcement thread, not a rumor thread.

Only crappy thing about Firefly in HD is that any shot with CG in it is only in 480p due to that being the resolution they rendered the effects in.

Eh. Cashing in on a dead person happens often. I would not be shocked to see them bump something off its release date and release something Charleston Heston in the next few months.
