I'm so happy Warner announced The Assassination of Jesse James...I don't care if it's a few weeks late, I'm relieved that it's coming... best looking movie of the year IMO.

There's a decent article in the new "Sound & Vision" about the work Warners did on Blade Runner and how they're doing 4k transfers with all HD titles (and actually downgrading to 2k for HD DVD and Blu-ray releases).

Anyway, at the time the article was written, Warners was currently working on "The Enforcer", so it looks like that promised Dirty Harry boxed set will finally be coming sometime in 2008. :fc:

thanks for pointing out that article, I agree it was a fascinating read and has me salviating for more of these downrezed 4K Warner discs. My only question is, is Warner's the only studio using this technology?

Cosmic Bus 12-20-07 04:23 PM

More combos from Warner... *sigh* They said these were done after Harry Potter. What gives?

True_Story1011 12-20-07 07:12 PM

it would be nice if these titles were out tomorrow. But I guess we'll see...

PopcornTreeCt 12-20-07 07:28 PM

I saw a commercial for The Kingdom that said Dec. 23rd. I highly doubt stores will have them out.

Mr. Cinema 12-20-07 08:20 PM

Best Buy lists 12/21 as the release date for The Kingdom.

I just got a call from Movie Stop. Eastern Promises HD and Pan's Labyrinth HD are in and ready to be picked up tomorrow.

I don't know how the 12/23 date got out. Why would they release DVDs on Sunday?

PopcornTreeCt 12-20-07 09:18 PM

Why would they release DVDs on a Friday? I'm just reporting what I read on highdefdigest.com and saw on a commercial.

Great News Everyone!!

Gattaca
The greatest sci-fi film of all time will be released on blu-ray on March 11th.

Tuesday is Christmas. So they chose to release this (and many other movies0 early to get a chance at some extra sales before Christmas and after Christmas. Good tactic as its not the same day as Bourne/Harry Potter, but will get noticed this weekend.

I'm in for Cat People!

Awesome news on Gattaca! Wasn't that pictured on an early Sony BD insert?

Glad to finally have it.

Just wanted to defend myself again.

Best Buy shows a release date of 12/23/07 for Eastern Promises for both DVD and HD-DVD
Amazon shows the HD-DVD released on 12/23/07.

The same for Pan's Labyrinth too. Regardless if b&m stores put these discs out early those are the dates and I'm sticking to it.
