Top Gun on HD - No Extras!!
Just read a good review at DVDFile. Supposedly, NONE of the 2-disc special edition extras were included. Damn irritating because I already offloaded the (now superior in my mind) DVD. No sale for me.

This is no shock. We've known about it since the disc was announced. It's the reason it came off my "must get" list when it was still scheduled for Blu Ray. As great as Top Gun in HD would be, a bare disc when the extras ARE available is unacceptable.

The omission of the extras is a bit disappointing, but on the other hand, the Dolby TrueHD soundtrack is the first time I consider the soundtrack of this film to actually live up to its reputation. There has been some very noticeable "sweetening" happening for this release. Video transfer is very good for a 20+ year-old catalog title.
Skip it or not. However, this is easily the best this film has looked and sounded, maybe even including its theatrical run.

Even if it is a bare bones disc I find it hard to pass up Top Gun in HD. I'll just rely on my copy of the earlier special edition SD DVD for extras.

Yep, no extras, and the picture quality isn't that hot, either (it's a MPEG-4 AVC transfer as opposed to a VC-1 one...although I'm not sure if that's why the quality isn't as good). The sound is top-notch though. I got the feeling watching this that this might have been a title Paramount had ready to go at the onset of the format launch, but just held back on releasing until now....
