Yeah no joke, the different between DD Plus 5.1 and Lossless is night and day.

Oh wait.

It is puzzling though.

Give this treatment to Shrek 1 and 2 and I'm sold. Shrek the Turd was terrible.

I thought it was the worst sequel of the summer and we had some bad sequels this year.

There must be high-def masters of the 1st and 2nd movies...why not put out a nice box set for the holiday season?

...and I agree that the third movie was a total dud, but the kids will still want it.

Paramount needs to announce more Dreamworks titles specifically Collateral and American Beauty.

Madagascar would have been a better title to showcase for Dreamworks instead.

Maybe, but this title will sell the most, and that's what its really all about, sales. Although I will say that I'm suprised it's not a box set. People always talk about the $150 Paramount got to go HD DVD exclusive. But from what I've read, it's only $50 to Paramount and $100 to Dreamworks Animation. And those are completely separate entities. So that alleged $100 million must be for something, and I'd think it would result in more than just Shrek 3 this quarter.

I gotta give a BIG thumbs up to Paramount/Dreamworks for putting out their new release films as regular HD-DVDs and NOT crummy combo discs...
Warner and Universal could stand to learn a thing or two from these guys!

New 'Shrek' Specs Promise Several HD DVD Firsts

Final specs are in for the highly-anticipated HD DVD debut of 'Shrek the Third,' including word of a first-ever branching PIP commentary and the most comprehensive web-enabled content yet.

Although DreamWorks Animation already announced most of the specs for the 'Shrek the Third' HD DVD earlier this month, now they've issued an even more comprehensive rundown of the disc's contents.

Expanding upon the picture-in-picture video commentary feature found on other HD DVDs, the "Animator's Reel" will not only present an entire alternate version of the film in storyboard form, but it will further utilize the format's HDi technology to offer a "contextual seamless branch" to lost scenes and other content.

'Shrek the Third' is also set to push the boundaries in terms of what's been offered as web-enabled content on previous HD DVD releases. DreamWorks says a number of additional exclusive features will be made available for download the day the disc hits stores, including a full-length subtitle trivia track, a movie guide with files on characters and talent in the film, plus an interactive coloring book feature that allows you to digitally paint your favorite scenes.

As previously announced, the disc will also provide users the ability to customize their own menus based on famous 'Shrek' characters. Once customized, the user's menu will become the default menu for the disc, even after it has been ejected from the player.

Additional features identical to the standard DVD edition of the film are set to include audio commentary, multiple making-of featurettes, deleted scenes sand more.

Hmm, always just been a casual fan of Special Features...if I happen to have the time sort of thing...but I got to admit that some of this new stuff their coming up with is just damn cool. Being able to customize your own menus that will remain the default menu? Seamless branching + complete alternate version + downloadable trivia tracks?...wowzers..now if we can just get this stuff on a film that's cool...I'm not sure what special features 'The Transformers' have, but let's hope it gets a similar treatment.

Well to be fair, we are getting 'Old School' and 'Anchorman' from Dreamworks on 11/27 which is nice...I suppose
