XB360 HD-DVD Firmware update!

As most of you guys know I (and many others) have had problems with certain films not loading onto the XBox360 HD-DVD drive.

especially with these films :

Hot Fuzz
Heroes: Season 1

ALL import HD's

I did alittle searching on the net and figured out all we need was alittle firmware update.

Annnnnnnd...

Voila~!

Is this new? Because I'm sign into Live every night while watching an HD-DVD movie and haven't seen an update yet.

If you have Live, these updates download automatically.

True Story.

But with myself and a couple other users... I dont use my Xbox for gaming primarily. Although i do enjoy a good game of 'Dead Rising', 'Halo' and 'Gears of War'.

this update is from May - June time frame.

It even gives you information for 'Tool Shed' users.

I get every update, but I bought the add on only two weeks ago. Should I download and burn this to a disk?

If you already connect to Live, it will download automatically.

The update adds a few new options and fixes a Dolby Digital "bug."

If you bought the drive recently and are not connected to XBox Live, then yes download and install the update.

You get better playback for many titles and you can choose how to output the sound...

PCM Stereo 16khz
Dolby Digital 5.1
DTS 1.5mbs
WMA 1.5mbs

My Pioneer receiver can play back WMA natively, so I have my 360 send out the HD DVD sound this way.

Don't think this update has anything to do with the issue with Hot Fuzz anyway. I've had issues with this disc despite the update. It will load after a few tries, but almost always get an error about not being able to read the material the first go or two.

I watched Hot Fuzz just last night on my 360 with no problems at all. Black level adjustment was also included in the firmware update.

XBL Silver is free. Why wouldn't you have it?

You get XBL Silver free but you still need to be able to connect to it. If you can't connect directly through the 360 then downloading and burning the update is the other option.
