Amazon.com Deal Posted in HD Talk Column

From DVDTalk's "HD Talk" Column: "Amazon.com is offering some great deals for people who are looking to either get in to one or both formats. You can get a Toshiba HD-A2 and eight movies (yes, EIGHT movies) for $211. Considering most people say their magic price point for a player by itself is $200, to get the player plus a batch of free discs for $11 more (and no tax or shipping) should be a deal no one can pass up. On the Blu-ray side, you can get a PS3 and eight free movies for $472.04. Obviously that's more money than the HD DVD deal, but the PS3 costs more to begin with and is an extremely versatile and powerful multimedia and video gaming machine. No matter which side of the fence you want to fall on (or if you've decided to go neutral), this is a great way to get started and have a small library to boot."

Does anyone know when this Blu-Ray deal is supposed to start? I didn't see a date listed in the column, nor does Amazon.com have anything posted on their website that I could find. Any additional information is appreciated.

Sorry, this looks like the old sale from about 2 weeks ago. It's over now.

Looks like the site was a little late in the game with their posting. Kinda sucks... I could've used that deal, that's for sure.

The deal is dead.

Also, not everyone gets away with the "no tax" part. Any state where Amazon has a business presence (Kansas, Kentucky, North Dakota, Washington) pays tax on Amazon orders.

And the column lists Zodiac as an 9/18 release on HD DVD.

I apologize for the old information. I write the column with the info available to me at the time, but things can and will change in the time it takes between writing and publication.

It's not your fault. Originally, the sale was supposed to last until the 23rd..
