Michael Bay wont do Transformers 2 do to HD-DVD exclusivity

Superherohype.com reports that Michael Bay won't direct Transformers 2 because of Paramount/DreamWorks only releasing movies on HD-DVD

Bay said: "I want people to see my movies in the best formats possible. For them to deny people who have Blu-ray sucks! They were progressive by having two formats. No Transformers 2 for me!"

Isn't The Rock, Pearl Harbor and Bad Boy exclusive to Blu-Ray?

Agreed!

I despise Michael Bay as a director and his "let's see how much shit I can blow up" in 2 hrs style of film making.

I couldn't care less what he thinks

This is cute.

Bay wasn't coming back for TF2 as Spielberg & Co weren't impressed with his on set attituide/antics.

This is a nice easy way for him to look like it's his decision.

Think about it for a nanosecond. Why would he turn down a 50+ million paycheck and a blockbuster film, for what is essentially right now a niche market issue?

he's a shitty director

Transformers 2 will make a profit even if Ang Lee directs it.

Michael Bay can suck me

Transformers was a decent movie, but I can only imagine how much better it could have been with a decent director. Maybe one that can deliver exposition without shutting down the entire movie for 30 minutes.

It does feel like a "Resign or you're fired." situation. Seen enough of those in my time.

Hey I resent that Ang Lee thing - he's good.

But heck, Transformer 2 will make a profit even if Uwe Boll directs it!

I like it how the man is trying to burn his bridges. He already pissed on Disney and Bruckheimer and Spielberg gave him a second chance after the box office disaster that was The Island. Shit, where does he go now? New Line?

2008 headline: "Michael Bay to direct The Hobbit".

Having a new director for TF2 would be the best thing to happen for the franchise.
Bay didn't do a horrible job, but a quality director could have done so much more.
Let's not forget, it was primarly Michael Frickin' Bay whose decision it was to not do the original Transformers designs.

That's kind of like saying that House of the Dead is the best Uwe Boll movie ever.

haha... that IS a much better example to use.

I stand corrected.

Maybe Uwe will make a straight to DVD Transformers 2 for us to enjoy

I hope there's a Bloodrayne crossover!
