I have the Toshiba HD A2 on the way but no HD DVDs for it

I'm looking at the following which will not be upgrades*

The Searchers
Superman Returns
Superman II Donner Cut
The Road Warrior


* don't get me wrong I will upgrade some regular DVDs but later on

also I will select the 5 free DVDs but I'm not askign about them here

so which one should I get first?

The Searchers is personally my favorite of the four movies you listed, and I think you'll be very impressed with the presentation.

Superman Returns is one of my demo discs when people see me home theater the first time (specifically the scene with the space shuttle/airplane). The video looks great and the sound really good during that scene. Unfortunately the movie as a whole is not so good (in fact, I fell asleep while watching it in the theater).

I have the rest of the movies you listed, but have not yet watched them in hd.

If I had to pick one, it would be The Searchers. If you can splurge for two, I was really impressed with The Road Warrior.

Out of those, I'd go with The Searchers or The Road Warrior - they look pretty awesome...then I'd go for Superman Returns - I was not impressed with the Donner cut. Returns looks decent but not jaw dropping.

Another vote for Searchers first, then Road Warrior.

From your list, The Searchers by a country mile. Probably my most-watched HD disc, I still use it to demo for friends.

Superman Returns

I love "The Searchers". My version is on Blu-ray, but it still looks pretty good.

I'd say Superman II.

If you have a Frys Electronics around you, you can get the movie for $13.99

The cinematography of that movie in HD is A+

Just the amount of xtras all on one disc are mind boggling
