Hot Fuzz/XBOX 360 - Update?

I rented Hot Fuzz on HD-DVD the other night and, when I went to watch it, I kept getting an error. I wasn't signed into my XBOX 360 profile (I only have the 360's HD-DVD add-on,) so I decided to try signing in to see if that would solve the problem and it did, because the disc needed some sort of an update in order to play.

But, I was only able to watch it while I was signed in because I guess the update was profile-specific. The problem with that is the fact that, whenever people sign in, the 360 displays notifications and that really detracts from the viewing experience.

Is there any way to avoid this if I run into the same problem again, or do I have to put up with the annoying notifications when people sign in/out?

You can turn off friend notifications during DVD playback in the console settings (somewhere - I forget where it is). Hopefully someone else can give you the direct menu location.

I think it's in Personal Settings or Profile Options when you click the XBOX button on the controller. That's how I have it set up. No notifications during movie playback.

That's weird. I required no update when I watched Hot Fuzz on my add-on, but then again, I was signed into Xbox Live.

Mine did an update. It was definitely when I put Hot Fuzz in.

Mine didn't do an update on Hot Fuzz, but it did the other night when I watched Mallrats.

It checks for updates whenever you put in movie into the HD add-on I believe.

Yup - if you haven't been logged into Live for a while when watching a movie, you may have missed a small update.

And yes - you can turn off the notifications while in a movie in the user settings.
