Any recent Paramount dvd releases coming to HD?

When the Eddie Murphy films were announced for hd and standard release, i was hoping to see more of these dvd reworks out before years end...

now with chinatown coming out again on dvd, any word or thoughts on whats coming...

To Catch a Thief is at the top of my list

It's hit or miss. A high-def release to go with the reissue of Flashdance was cancelled. Ghost was pulled as well.

The only catalog titles on Paramount's schedule now are Face/Off, a boxed set of the Jack Ryan movies, and Top Gun. Chinatown is rumored but hasn't been officially announced.

I could definitely have gone for To Catch a Thief in high-def. Paramount could have been the first studio to release some Hitchcock in HD.

To Paramount's credit, they're doing a good job keeping up with day and date releases, and their schedule has always been kinda light. I'd definitely prefer more releases, and the cancellations are annoying, but at least they're doing something.

yeah, okay.

At least they are mostly consistent. Plus, they actually include extras and have enough sense not to price their catalog titles at a ridiculous $39.99 retail.

Turns out that they didn't. It was a misprint on their press site.

jiggawhat:

Do you happen to know if either any of the following could be coming to HD/BD:

Once Upon a Time in the West
Escape from L.A.
Team America: World Police (and South Park movie for that matter)

Thanks for the info on Chinatown and Godfather by the way!

jigga,

there appears to be some confusion over at AVS about whether or not Top Gun will have the extras from the 2-disc set.

can you confirm?

NEVERMIND. The back cover makes no mention of extras. At least it has lossless audio.

I hope so. Unless I'm mistaken, Paramount has included most, if not all, extras on their HD releases.

Might as well add another Paramount question. Since The Rainmaker just got re-released with a new transfer, will we be seeing that one in HD soon? If not, I'll just pick up the dvd for now.

Seriously, that's my biggest gripe with Fox. What the heck are they thinking wanting to charge 39.99 for a bare-bones catalog title?
