The remastered Fifth Element BD exchange info:
From the Sony AVS insider paidgeek:
He also mentioned that it may take a few hours for the exchange info to circulate to their call centers.
Please see below for the contact information to exchange your original copy of "The Fifth Element". The new disc can be easily identified by the additional information on the top edge of the disc which states "BD RMSTRD".

I emailed regarding and exchange and got back a reply the next day. You don't need the receipt, only the disc. You mail the disc + the email reply they sent you and they mail you the new one Fed Ex.
Simply.
Way to go Sony....
Now if would could get some sort of universal remote for the PS3.....

Does this mean the new discs are available in the stores? I have been holding off on getting this title due to the reviews - is the only way now to get a corrected disc to buy it, and then send it in for a replacement?

They probably will be, though it may not be apparent, since only the back cover will change. I saw a scan somewhere, so I'll go find it. In the meantime here is a link to amazon for the Remastered version releasing on 7/17

I don't think Sony is shipping anymore old Fifth Element discs to retailers.
I think it was also mentioned that the cover will be darker and have a "foil" look to it, similar to Ghost Rider. Also, the top sticker on the case should read "BD RMSTRD" or something along those lines.

True, but they may have old stock on the shelf too. If that picture's UPC is correct, it is the same one as the current disc as well, so the TrueHd mention may be the only difference in the packaging. Of course it may say "remastered" on the left side of the case, but that shot wasn't available.

They have different UPCs, and while it doesn't say remastered anywhere on the packaging (except on the top sticker), the spine codes are different and there's a TrueHD logo on the side.

Also received a reply from Sony Customer Support 1 day after I requested the return info. I kind of wish they would send a new case, though, if it has a new UPC. I'll have to fake out DVD Profiler, I guess.
Just glad they are replacing! (Not sure why I bought this crappy version in the first place, I didn't do my homework on this one.)

Okay, about the UPCs: according to DVD Profiler, there are two versions of the original disc - one region coded (A) and one without region coding. The UPC on the remaster is the same as on the region-free version, but different from the region A version. This probably means that the remaster will be region-free (although it may eventually have two versions as well).
