Onkyo DV-HD805 HD DVD Player

The company will launch an HD DVD player in the Autumn. While the DV-HD805 (above) is based on Toshiba's HD-XA2, it will have some tweaking on the audio and SD video side, making it what the company calls 'a very good DVD player with HD DVD support.' The official word is that the company supports both formats, and is hoping for a viable universal solution somewhere down the line.

Rebadged XA2 with better DAC's. Exactly the same as the Phillips blu-ray player which is no longer made.

things just got real interesting. Unfortunately, my spider-sense tells me that Denon will probably come out with a BD player.

Now that would be real interesting. It would be even more interesting if it wasn't a rebadge. Is there a price point to this yet?

If people are using HDMI, the "better DAC's..." don't really mean much tho

Should be noted also that Onkyo is a dual format supporter. I'd expect to see a BD player from them soon.
