TV Shows on HD-DVD
I only know Smallville - Season 5 is out on HD-DVD but are they planning on releasing any more TV Shows on DVD? What specific networks are getting it released on DVD? Does it have to be popular in order to be released?

When might we see the other seasons of Smallville on HD DVD?

And in answer to the OP's "Does it have to be popular in order to be released?"... at this stage, absolutely. Studios are definitely "testing the waters" at this point. You're only going to see recent, well-known shows (and often only the most recent seasons).

It's been listed here in Canada on Best Buy and Future Shop for months now, and at one point it was listed on Amazon.ca, but I believe that it was pulled down. There is virtually no hope that it will meet this date, as I can't find any details anywhere else.
Here is the Future Shop link:

I'd LOVE, LOVE, LOVE The Sopranos on HD disc (either format). But it's got the same problem as the SD DVDs had.. they're about twice or thrice what they should be. Hell, I just started picking the old sets on the used circuit since they're finally bottoming out at $25 a set.

Since Nip/Tuck, which is a WB series will release on HD/BD day-and-date with the DVD, I think WB will do this for most of their upcoming TV show releases such as Veronica Mars season 3, Supernatural season 2, Smallville season 6, etc.

I'm really hoping to see Supernatural: Season 2 come out in HD. I'd gladly pay a premium for that one. Especially since it's such a colorless show anyway. I've noticed in OTA HD it at least has a little more color than SD.

Seasons 1 and 2 were 4:3, which I would imagine they could handle like Casablanca and Adventures of Robin Hood, with pillarbars on the side retaining the original aspect ratio while still offering a higher resolution.
Seasons 3-5 were all 16:9 and would greatly benefit from a 1080p image.
