Question about my PS3 setup
hey guys
i have my ps3 hooked up through hdmi and i have the optical cable going from my ps3 to my receiver. when i play games i have noticed that it shows all of my speakers are active but when i play blu-ray movies its only showing that the front speakers are active. is there any particular reason why it would show up that way during blu-ray playback and not on the games?
thanks for any help

You are running an optical cable from the PS3, but are probably selecting PCM audio. The optical cable can only pass PCM at 2.0 channels. If you need to run the optical cable, be sure to switch to Dolby Digital audio.

hi
yes i did select pcm. as far as you saying to select dolby digital do you mean on the receiver or on the ps3? i dont have to have the optical cable i used it since i thought it would be the best audio option. is there a better way to go so i can get full use out of the rest of the speakers? thanks again for the help

You need to NOT choose PCM on the blu ray disc menu. The only way to get 5.1 or better with PCM is to connect via HDMI. You should always pick eith Dolby Digital or DTS.
