Went to my local BB, asked someone about it, and he was really helpful, knew exactly where they were. Only problem is, apparently Sony came by and took them all back because they got wind BB was giving them out early. And I highly doubt they'll get them back in tomorrow, so I'm out of luck.

That's tough!

Well, I'm glad that the guy actually took the time to enter the sku number into the system (because there it was in glorious grey & white! You know, that "On floor 04/24" that I mentioned in my earlier post), and that's the reason why he decided that it was okay, and actually went back into the storeroom and got me one.

You know something? It's not the first time (and won't be the last), but I just don't get all the hub-hub with Sony. I mean, why do they care so much about a 'sampler' for Pete's sake? What's the Big Friggin' Deal, anyway? Something sounds MIGHTY fishy, but I could be wrong.

"Sony came by???"

Now I'm not making fun of you, MM, but...

OH, MAN!

That sounds funny! I can just imagine these guys in suits coming into the store (like the FBI or Mafia), and after 'clearing the area', confiscating all the discs and putting them in these silver armored, foam padded briefcases (you know, the ones with a handcuff attached?), while giving the Best Buy employees bad arse, constipated, dirty looks, and when they leave, someone gets on the store intercom and says, "Sony has left the building!"

Treesa just said she thinks it's a crock o' poo...and that the guys at BB were just givin' you a line of Major Bull!

Maybe the employees took them all themselves and are gonna sell 'em on ebay! I mean, this is starting to sound so important, it'll be in next week's Headlines!

Look here, Mallet Man...

We'll stop by the one over here tomorrow, and the one in Burbank, and if they have them (and if we can find another BR title that we want), I'll have Treesa get the sampler (I mean, she's a person too! ) and hopefully it'll come with that magical & most coveted Blue-Blu-ray rubberband, and we'll send it to you!

This particular Best Buy is literally one block away from Sony's studios, so it wouldn't surprise me if they sent someone over to collect the discs if they heard the Best Buy was "breaking street date" as it were. I agree that it's utterly silly of them to be so uptight about a sampler, but Spider-Man is one of the few things keeping the company solvent right now.

And THEEK, YGM.

Sorry Mallet Man, but I didn't get your email until this morning.

I forgot that Sony has a newer home over there in Culver City and it's just a stone's throw away from '2' Best Buy stores!

---!!!---SPIDY SAMPLER UPDATE---!!!---

Well, we drove by the one close to the house, and it was bumper to bumper just to get into the mall, and so we ended up going to the one over there in Atwater Village, and we just got back and get ready for this...

We asked 7 different people around the store, including cashiers that were working since the store opened this morning, a Magnolia dude, and 2 managers.

They checked the system and it said they HAVE THEM...and a couple customers before us asked about them, but they said that THEY COULDN'T FIND THE BOX that contains the friggin' discs!

A floor Manager told me that they were only given 14. I then asked for a raincheck, and they said they couldn't do that with a free exclusive in store item.

The dude at the BB I got mine said they had like 30.

One of the guys in the TV department (who LOVES Spiderman and is a comic book buff from way back that really wanted a sampler for himself) said he thinks that either an employee or a customer somehow got their hands on 'the box' and took it.

These discs are obviously much more important than I ever thought they were.

Sorry, MM, but we gave it a serious & sincere at least 45 minute try.

Here's the BB SUNDAY AD/Offer in the paper thing we picked up in the store:

What The...???

Great Googly Moogly!

LOOK AT THE BOTTOM OF THE AD!!!

It says, 'MINIMUM 10 PER STORE'???

What the HELL are they thinking???

That would be fine, maybe back in the BIBLE DAYS when there were only like...

10 PEOPLE ON THE FREAKIN' EARTH!!!

OH! Don't be too generous there, SONY...

...well, good luck to anyone who got theirs!

DUH!

It says 'No Rain Checks' right the in the ad!

-Paul

I think I'll just order the disc by itself. Best Buy's movies are all at least $5 more than at Amazon, so might as well just get it separate.

My store rubberbanded them with those blue bands to other Blu-ray movies and mixed them into the Blu-ray section. I removed one took it to the register and walked out with my free disc.

I got one of these today and I honestly can't say it's really worth any extra effort to acquire. By the way, is it just me or are two of the Spider-Man 3 trailers exactly the same one?

Well, I haven't even watched mine yet (Haven't even opened it for that matter), but it's the "GETTING" that was the fun part for me!

I mean, I sure am glad that I didn't just leave the store yesterday when they told me:

"Not until Sunday!"
"Not until Sunday!"
"Not until Sunday!"
"Not until Sunday!"
"Not until Sunday!"
"Not until Sunday!"
"Not until Sunday!"
"Not until Sunday!"
"Not until Sunday!"
"Not until Sunday!"

...but I hung around, and kept asking, and Persistence finally paid off!

(...and her sister ain't bad either...if ya know what I mean! )

What The...???

OH, MAN!!!

I went looking for this today and my BB didn't have it. Figures. Same thing happend with the NIN demo and the South Park HD DVD. They never have it and nobody knows what I'm even talking about when I ask for it.

I'm just glad I can buy the damn thing on their website. They should do that more often.

They are very similar, but if you look close (real close) the second trailer touches on Harry Osborn in the first ten seconds or so (he appears for about a second or two). In this way, the studio feels (I guess) that they are linking the previous two movies, whereas the other trailer did not show him until later in the promo.

Did you notice if the Blu-ray releases of Spiderman later this year includes Spiderman 1? All I see is Spiderman 2 (and 3, of course).

I hoped that the disc had one of the later previews with Venom footage. Ah well.

Watched it yesterday and for all effort in the nice case they deliver almost no content. I thought they would at least have the extended preview they showed online. It definitely isn't worth the effort to seek this disc out other than it looking nice on the shelf.

I'm not even trying with the bonus discs anymore. Half of the time my local Best Buy doesn't put them out on time, doesn't put them out at all, the employees grab them before putting them out, or they don't get any in at all. The other half ot the time no one has any clue what I'm talking about when I ask if they have one.

I went to one Best Buy yesterday and they didn't have the discs out. I asked at the checkout and one of the employees went to check the back room. She said that they had them, but only for people buying a Blu-ray movie. I asked if I could just buy the sampler on its own, and she said no. This morning I checked another Best Buy, and they had them out in the Blu-ray section. I also picked up a CD while I was there and the sampler disc rang up for free. The cashier didn't say anything, so I guess it depends on the store and on the cashier you get.

HAHAHA! It must have been my comments earlier this morning. I went to Best Buy this morning before a class that I have. To my utter shock they had a few of the Spiderman demo discs sitting on the shelf. Now I know what the rubberband is for! They are rubberbanding the discs to the Blu-Ray discs you are supposed to buy. I was so happy they actually had a demo disc for once I decided to purchase another disc for the hell of it. I knew the checkout girl put something in her pocket when I was leaving but it didn't register in my brain until I got to school and checked. She actually took the rubberband off the demo disc and put it in her pocket !!

Normally I wouldn't give a shit about a rubberband, but boy was I fired up this morning! It's only a two minute drive away so I went back and took another rubberband off the shelf. To my utter shock I discovered that after I left earlier they had put about two dozen of the South Park HD discs out for grabs! My previous copy was scratched to shit so I picked a new one up. Thank You for stealing my rubberband checkout lady!

That sucks. Same thing happened with the preview they added on the Playstation store. They chose the trailer with no Venom footage.

Hey Eric, glad to hear you got yours!

Is there a page from the website that you can link here?

I did a search at their site, and even put in the sku # (8338827) and the bar code numbers but with no luck.

(Thanks Eric, but I did some more searching and I actually found it! )

It's only $4.99!!!

HERE it is for YOU, and anyone else that wants to order one!

I found it through a search that lead me to this forum (Post # 18):

http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=8095

I know it says '$5.99' in the post, but it's only $4.99 in the cart.

YAY FOR YOU, DANIEL!!!
