HD Mentioned on Ebert & Roeper

I'm not sure how many people here watch "Ebert & Roeper" but this week in the "Thumbs Up Video" segment Richard Roeper specifically mentioned the HD version of "Dog Day Afternoon." This is the first time I recall HD being mentioned on the show and it was the HD DVD not BD, so I don't know if there's anything to that but thought I would mention it here.

Did he actually say "HD DVD" or just "HD?" I know I often will say "HD" but I really mean HD discs in general, not one format or the other.

That's cool that he mentioned DDA though.

I am fairly certain Roeper said "HD DVD" but I can't be 100% sure now that you have cast that shadow of doubt in my mind I am certain that the words "Blu" and "Ray" were not spoken, but, like you said, HD used in general terms can be taken as HD DVD and BD. I think the episode is airing again tonight at 11:35. If it is on again I'll record it and check it out again tomorrow.

I just had it on in the background and am 95% sure that he said HD DVD specifically. His judgement has really been getting a lot better in the past few months, and I think this proves it.

He actually said both... During the review, he said "new HD disc coming" and then during the recap, said new on HD-DVD.

This ought to lock up the format war once and for all. Thank you, Roeper!

I just watched it again and you got it as he said it. Initially it could have just been generic HD but in the recap of the "Thumbs Up" videos he said "HD DVD." I just found it interesting but I'm not sure it will play a part in the "war."
