New HD-DVD/BD at Target

Hey guys,
Just got home from my Target store and noticed that the HD and Blu-ray section had been updated. No longer are the original HD discs out (Phantom of the Opera, Last Samurai, Troy, etc.). Here were the new ones I noticed:

HD:
A Scanner Darkly
Happy Feet
The Good Shepherd
The Departed
Superman Returns (used to only have the Blu-ray)
Lucky # Slevin

Blu-ray:
The Departed
The Prestige
Eragon
Black Hawk Down
Crank
The Covanent

Just thought it was nice to see that Target was updating to the newest releases. With the next ad have Deja vu and Night at the Museum at $24.99, it looks like Target is trying to really get into the high def movement.

Thanks for the update. I wonder if they will be putting some of those original HD-DVD's on clearance like they did with Cinderella Man a few months ago.

My Target constantly updates their BD section with new titles, but the HD DVD section rarely gets touched.

New on BD, they have:
Casino Royale
Gridiron Gang
Pursuit of Happyness
Rocky Balboa
Babel
Happy Feet

The latest HD DVD title they have is Babel. I'd like to see Target expand their section, rather than replacing titles. I'll check this weekend to see if they've added anything else.

Clearly, they are favoring BD right now, since they're starting to advertise the titles and are actually putting them on sale. I'll buy both Deja Vu and Museum at those in-store prices.

I'll have to check my local Target again.

I was just there last Thursday (the 12th) and they still had the same HD-DVD's out. The newest title being Babel.

YMMV, but the prices on these discs are now the same or worse than Best Buy at my Target.

All Uni combos were 39.99, all $30 list titles were 24.99 (Slevin, Scanner Darkly), and stuff like Casino Royale and Pursuit of Happyness were 29.99.

I remember picking up a bunch of my initial HD-DVD from the at 19.99. Obviously I won't be buying any more HD discs at Target.

One of the local Targets has now switched out their selection. They had most of what is mentioned in the op, but I also saw Serenity among a few others. Unfortunately, they had Serenity priced at $24.99. Normally, Target would have this at $19.99 considering it's an early title, but it appears their pricing mirrors Best Buy and Circuit City.

Children of Men and The Good Shepherd are $39.99 each.

I'm going to check the other one this morning. I hope they have moved the older titles on a clearance shelf, as they did with Cinderella Man.

Hey,
Just so you know, the titles that were removed were sent back to the manufacturer. This was the direction from corporate. While you might be able to still find them in stores, they will be full price. I too wished they went clearance, but knowing they are updating and putting them on sale on release week is good enough for me.

Well I did wind up picking up Night At The Museum and Deja Vu at Target since they were both $25 on sale.

So it appears Target's release week prices may still be good, but the regular prices will be crap.

I got the last Night at the Museum at my Target, used their 10% coupon to save a little more. They also had a few copies of Deja Vu.

Selection in Canada in general leaves a lot to be desired. We really only have two stores, FS and BB, and they are owned by the same parent company.

Looks like my local Target updated their releases as well.

As others have said all the Universal combos were $39.99 and other titles like Lucky#Slevin, Superman Returns, and so on were the same prices BB charges.

Looks like my local Target finally did the same. Both BD and HD-DVD had some new titles on the shelf. Small selection, but definately updated over the past couple weeks.
