Updating HD-DVD drive for xbox360

I heard that I can update my HD-DVD drive so that it can put out 1080p over the component cables but I can't seem to find where I can download it. I don't have xbox live so i have to burn it to a cd. Please help

I believe HD is classified as 720P and higher.

Save your pennies and get the new 360 w/ HDMI out.

I don't think you need any update. If your source will accept 1080p, the 360 add-on WILL output 1080p when playing a HD-DVD (no, it will not upscale DVDs).

To those of you saying otherwise, have you tried this? With a source that accepts 1080p over component?

I only have a 720p display, but my parents own a 1080p LCD that does accept 1080p sources via component (which is actually pretty rare). Either the TV was lying to me about the source or the 360 does output 1080p component when playing a HD-DVD.

Here is the xbox.com article on how to obtain the updates (and burn to CD):

The HD-DVD add-on will play HD-DVDs at 1080p via component as long as your TV will accept it.

But you can only get standard DVD upscaling to 1080i/720p/1080p if you have VGA. That was a bit disappointing to me as well, but apparently it's a regulatory issue and not something that Microsoft implemented on its own.
