Universal to stop using combo discs for catalog titles?

this is not an easy post to make, as I am making it from my palm treo. my apologies in advance.

it being a hassle to copy links, visit engadgethd.com.

I have never been so happy. now I will be buying 3 to 4 times more HD-DVDs. I refused to buy combos. gooooooooo HD!

I didnt think it was a complete stop to them, is it? I thought it was just a stop to older catalogue titles and new releases would continue to be released in combo format.

That's great news if the price will drop. Otherwise, there is no point from a consumer point of view.

hopefully its a complete stop to them.
i don't want to have to rely on netflix to rent combo discs because i won't buy them. they could at least offer hd AND combo.

Breach was just announced as a HD-DVD/DVD combo. I think new releases will be "combos", while catalogue titles won't.

Speaking of EngadgetHD. If anyone wants to hear what AVS forum idiots sound like I encourage you to download episode 42 of their podcast. I doubt you can listen to more than 10 minutes of these two stuttering through the podcast, but for guys that are in the middle of the format war they seem very confused on the some of the facts. Especially the host.
