PS3 BR playback problems??

So...

I have a Westinghouse 1080p 42" LCD...

Hooking my PS3 up to it.

Using HDMI cable, it wouldn't even detect a 1080p capability. When I force it into that mode it craps out.

So I tried an HDMI to DVI cable, and it DID detect the 1080p capability.

Sweet right?!

For some reason now I'm seeing these tiny blue specks in white scenes. Not constantly but ocassionaly.

Anyone know anything about these blue specks?

I believe those are the famous blue sparklies found when using a bad cable, or cable with bad connector.

Is your Westy a native 1080p or simply input capable?

1080P is on the specs for it.

I run an HTPC into it with 1080 resolution and it looks beautiful.

Bad cable really?

I have the same TV. Its aproblem with the set. Check your firmware under system settings. If its not 1.00 or 1.03 you get sparkles. The solution is either use DV1 or 1080i through HDMi. you can try to get a new set through Westy. Check the avs thread for my details.
