Problem with my HDMI for PS3?

Okay, first of all I know very little about this HD stuff, I'm pretty new to the game. But back in November I got a Panasonic TC-32LE60 HD-TV and it's been going great. Well about two weeks ago I got a PS3 to use primarily as a Blu-ray player. I hooked it up with the HDMI cables that came with my TV and now here we are two weeks into it, I went to turn on my PS3 on the HDMI input and I got a blank screen. I went ahead and plugged in the AV cables then and my PS3 worked fine that way. Is it possible the HDMI cable that came with the TV was just shoddy and I need to get one?
