Question about Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Dodgeball

Does anyone know if the "unrated" director's cuts will be included on these discs? I'm usually not a fan of the extended versions, but I actually really enjoyed the unrated cuts of both of these films, especially Dodgeball. I might be inclined to pick them up if these cuts will be the ones on the discs.

I believe both of those will be the theatrical versions.

I hate that Fox is doing this with their Blu-Ray's. Alien vs. Predator is the same way, as is Dances With Wolves (MGM via Fox). Both could have been the longer cuts, but instead they're going to play the double-dip game with these as well. I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

I thought AVP employed seamless branching and contained both versions of the movie?

Mr. and Mrs. Smith is listed as unrated on Amazon, for whatever that's worth.

Really? I hadn't heard that. I apologize for spreading misinformation if that is the case.

EDIT: Ok I checked the back cover at DVDEmpire. it does list both versions.

I think what threw me off was the fact that it doesn't mention an Unrated cut on the front cover like most Fox DVD's do, and there is a PG-13 listing on the back art.

So now the question is, couldn't they do this for Dodgeball and Smith?

Re: Question about Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Dodgeball

It's been awhile, but they announced a separate theatrical Dodgeball BD awhile back.

I also resurrected this thread for another reason: I bought Dodgeball Unrated last week at Fry's for $10 and I was watching it and I noticed something that seems really weird to me, perhaps someone can explain it: About six or seven minutes in, during the conversation where Vaughn is talking to Stiller at Stiller's gym about Stiller buying up Vaughn's gym ("your gym doesn't even have...cupholders") something seems very strange about the reverse of Vaughn when the shot is on Stiller, the pattern in Vaughn's shirt seems completely and totally smeared and blurry. Is this DNR? Is something weird and glitchy happening in this scene? The transfer seemed okay otherwise, although I was already thinking maybe a touch of DNR was applied before I saw this scene.

The rated cut of Dodgeball supposedly came out on May 12. Has anyone actually seen a copy of this for sale anywhere? I prefer this cut, but I don't see it in stock anywhere online. I guess Fox made about 500 copies of this one.

I saw a copy in FYE a few weeks ago. It seemed like it was a barebones release, too (though I can't be sure).

Amazon's not even carrying it anymore, just through 3rd party sellers. No listing on DVD Empire, and Best Buy.com says backordered. The unrated cut is $14.99 on Amazon. May have to just get it.

The modifications are quite minor, aren't they?

Re: Question about Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Dodgeball

I think the differences are small, but I guess since I've watched the theatrical cut so many times, I'm used to how it plays. I did get the unrated cut this morning. BJs Warehouse has a pallet of different Fox catalogs for $10.99 right now. Hard to pass up that deal.
