Even though it was announced, I'm still waiting for a release date for Orson Welles' The Trial. Kino announced it over two years ago, yet nothing ever came of it.
Speaking of Welles (and not to get off track), what ever happened to the rumored DVD release of Journey into Fear? I recall during one of the Warner chats, they were looking at releasing it around the time they released The Magnificent Ambersons, but I never heard anymore about it. Anyone here know anything? |

There is an HD master for THE BLACK HOLE which looks quite good, but I suspect it was produced for streaming and not for Blu-ray release, unless perhaps Disney releases it via their Movie Club. THE CHANGELING is available on BD from Japan, but avoid this at all costs. It is blocky, fully of artifacts and motion distortion, and looks like a DVD up-convert (and a bad one at that). It needs to have a proper HD release (Scream Factory?). If you are all-region-ready, there is a nice-looking Blu of GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS from the U.K., and the price has dropped considerably. I have seen an HD master of HUSH, HUSH, SWEET CHARLOTTE that looks just fine, so perhaps eventually Twilight Time or someone will release it.
Another one I thought about the other day was The Last Valley. The dvd of it is non-anamorphic and looks horrible. I know it is forgotten but this movie deserves a better release. |

Havent Nightmare on Elm St/Glengarry GlenRoss already been released on Blu??

Re: Your Blu-ray wish list / "When will _______ be on Blu-ray?"
The Black Hole is about the only title that would tempt me to join the Disney Movie Club.
Since posting last year, I've been able to cross off some big titles and a few that honestly surprised me along with another that's due in July. I can't believe though, that I'm still waiting on Universal to put out Jaws 2. August is usually the latest they will release something like that so it doesn't look like it's coming this year either. I've pretty much given up on Paramount. My only hope with them is that either Criterion or someone in Region B will get the rights to one of their titles- as just happened recently with Paper Moon released by Eureka in the UK. |

Re: Your Blu-ray wish list / "When will _______ be on Blu-ray?"
Finally arrived on Blu-ray as a Warner Archive release:
Showdown in Little Tokyo (Dolph Lundgren and Brandon Lee) Received my copy over the weekend. Nice upgrade from the original full screen release in the Warner snapper case. R-rated version, no extras (a director's commentary would have been nice!), single layer BD disc, but it averages in the low 30's bitrate. Overall, a pleasing upgrade for a very cheesy B flick. :) |

After checking out The Visit and really enjoying it I wanted to rewatch some older Shyamalan films and was sort of surprised to find that The Village isn't on Blu-ray yet. I know not everyone loves it but I've always found it sort of underrated and would gladly buy it.

Me and my bother saw Dragnet and my parents saw the Untouchables in the same theater. I had the record with the Art of Noise theme music.

The Pianist
The Shield Complete Series (they don't even sell the individual seasons on Blu) Equilibrium (one with a good A/V transfer and some special features...the one you can buy supposedly has a horrid transfer and is barebones) |

The long term standards. The Abyss and True Lies

Re: Your Blu-ray wish list / "When will _______ be on Blu-ray?"
RANT
It appears as if everything out there is either a cult film no one has ever heard of Nude Zombi Holocaust Nuns 3: Undead Nurse Fetus Epiphany (in its original unsubbed Italian!) or a film that came out in the last four years. Yes, I know about WB archive and its meager offerings but in the total amount of releases, flicks prior to 1960 are maybe 1% of them. I never would have believed Chopping Mall would be on its SECOND blu release (isn't Slugs on it's THIRD?) while movies like Quest for Fire have never had a US release. FIN |
Re: Your Blu-ray wish list / "When will _______ be on Blu-ray?"
And someone really should work on those Golden Age flicks like Deep Throat, Devil in Miss Jones, Debbie Does Dallas, Behind the Green Door... All shot on film, well-regarded by critics and still remembered to this day. Vinegar Syndrome might do it eventually.
