As long as the seller is legit, that's a great deal. Where else can you get a decent quality BD player for that little...

which has calmed my nerves a bit. Knowing that anything that gets released on an HD format is fair game makes me care a whole lot less about studio lists and guesswork about what format new movies are being released in. I know that it probably prolongs the "war" and you've been a pretty staunch proponent of one format winning and one format dying, but I just don't see it happening any time soon, and I think $360 is a good investment to save the hassles and headaches.

1) Your bid is $250 below the winning bid. You were the 14th highest bidder!!
2) This looks to be the first item he ever sold. The other item is "private"
3) Bought this weird e-book: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=300060316965
4) The "Free Gifts" are mostly free and / or useless items. The "cash bonus" is a seemingly deceptive ploy designed to entice greedy, stupid people, neither of which you are.
5) My understanding is that he is supposed to also put in a picture of the receipt for the item, but that obligation may be over past launch.
6) He would be taking a $150 (or more, depending on shipping and tax) hit on the item, plus eBay fees.
While I admit, none of these are the types of "glaring" issues that would send you running, put together, this seems enough to get me to move on to the next auction.
Hope that helped.

Don't I have "protection" from paypal, though?
He's also selling another one...but he's selling it for a "buy it now" of almost $700. I figured he was just trying to recoup the cost that way.

I loved the PS3 when I had it. I may try to get the cheaper 20gig down the road. For some reason, every disc I removed from the unit would leave sratches. I haven't found anyone else on any boards to have experienced the same thing. I'm hoping it was just that unit I had. I still would get it for gaming first, but there's nothing out that interests me. I'm not sure if the discs would get scratched after I hit eject or if I was removing them.

Look, maybe he's just got 8 units left from a long-selling season for PS3 and wants to dump what's he's got left. This could be completely legit. I'm only saying that if this were me, that would be my thought process as I posted.

I don't know what the fuck to do. It's $360 (ironically,
) with no shipping fee. Shit.

Open up a new Paypal account. Link a credit card. Use that one.
I'm saying this because if it comes down to you challenging the charge on your credit card, PP WILL close your account or try to come after available funds. This way, at least you don't lose your primary account.
I still say you pass, however.

I emailed the seller and asked him where the receipt was and all that.

I'm with DVD Josh on this. Why would he offer you, the 14th highest bidder, a second chance at below MSRP? Maybe call the credit card company first for the card you're going to use, explain the situation, and make sure they'll let you dispute the charges.

OK it doesn't look like the seller was bogus.
It looks like the 2nd chance offer was.
I was told that 2nd chance offers last a week and mine says 1 day. They also said a copy of the 2nd chance offer would be under myebay page. It's not.
Now I'm just hoping that I didn't sign in or do anything while I was looking at it that would allow someone to hack into my screen name. I just don't understand how something like this could happen considering all the names are blocked.

Duration of a Second Chance Offer − A Second Chance Offer can be sent to buyers for a 1, 3, 5, or 7-day duration. The 1-day duration option has been added to offer sellers increased flexibility and convenience when using a Second Chance Offer.

They are right about the My eBay page listing the offer though.
Digi, forward me the e-mail please. I should be able to determine if the e-mail is legitimate. BTW, here's some more info on SCOs

Alright, the e-mail is most likely legitimate. The scroll over links read cgi.ebay.com and the link takes you to the same URL. That's eBay's domain.
Have you checked your actual mailbox under eBay and not your mail program? Mine tends to get trapped as spam.
Like I said, there are plenty of reasons to just say no, but the e-mail is probably okay.

If you feel protected by Paypal and your credit card, then go for it. But I have a feeling that protection will come into play on this transaction.

Shit. Guess I lost out on SUCH a deal.
Here's the skinny: when they guy offered me a 2nd chance deal, he didn't realize it defaulted to my top bid. He thought it defaulted to the highest bid.
And now he's canceled that 2nd chance bid.
I should have taken it when I had the chance.
Now i'm pissed.

Either way, this was a sketchy deal with a sketchy seller. Keep plugging away kid.

Yechh...i'm pissed.
I'm thinking of just trying Best Buy's to see if anyone has a Samsung that I could get open box. Again...i ain't paying more than $450. I could've gotten it refurb for that amount. And I have a ton of BB bucks.
