Crank extras comparison

I just saw a DVD review of Crank on IGN and it looks like the DVD has a picture-in-picture commentary.

High-def digest just lists 3 featurettes for the Blu-Ray.

Does anyone know if the Blu-ray also has the PIP mode? Are the featurettes possibly just what was used for the PIP mode on the DVD?

Well, the featurettes are listed under the DVD's "crank'd out" mode and according to DVD Empire the Blu-ray will have that as well:

In "Crank'd Out Mode" you'll experience running commentary, behind the scenes, making-of insights, gags and more.

So this is maybe another title with BD-J (ala Descent)?

Picked the movie up yesterday. Excellent AV quality.

Not sure if they actually used BD-J, but it has the 'cranked out mode' PIP commentary.

It also has several featurettes (all in high def) that don't appear to be on the DVD.

Overall, excellent release.

This is one of the movies that I'd pick up if I had a BD player and as such I'm not buying the DVD. Good news that it seems to be a decent release.

If you know what you're in for, it's awesome. It's almost a live action cartoon, but it's funny, fast paced, and action packed. I watched it last night again and was just as impressed as when I saw it in theaters.

A/V quality was one of the best I've seen lately. Very impressed all around, I picked it up from Walmart yesterday for $25.

I also watched it last night and I thought it was great! I have read somewhere this movie is made to be like a video game. Non stop action is tops in my book!

I'll get it when the price goes down or there's another Google Checkout/DeepDiscountDVD type sale. 25 bucks is too much for a blind buy.

I just got it from Amazon... haven't watched it yet, but it's the first HD title I've bought (and seen) to come in a slipcase.

I heard about that. Is the case still the same size as regular Blu-ray cases?

Yes. It's the same kind of thing as the regular DVD keepcase slipcovers.

i agree. i just watched it and really enjoyed it for the action content. non stop action thriller. the pen special feature is pretty different too. only paid 15 bucks with the pen though at CC, not 25.

Movie is complete shit. I couldn't even finish it. And I am a big Jason Statham fan.

Hi,

Can someone post picture of the slipcase cover? I would be interested in seeing what it look like. Thanks,

It's exactly the same picture with the exception of the silver swoosh on the top and bottom that is on the keepcase cover. The back cover looks the same except rearranged a little different, due to the extra space gained by covering the blue space on the keepcase top. These are the slipcase pictures:

Thanks a bunch for the picture! I guess this is the first blu-ray with a slipcase?

Well, Crank was under 90 minutes long & very well-paced, not 3 hours and a total snooze-fest... and not once in Crank did it rain frogs... so it's at worst the 3rd shittiest movie of all time. I still liked it though!

Yeah, pretty good flick for a character that Statham can do with his eyes clothes.

Yes, for either format, though to be honest, I never grasped the concept of the usefullness of a slipcover that is pretty much the same as the keepcase cover. It's just more annoying to get the disc out. I could probably throw them out, but I won't from a collection standpoint. They got rid of inserts but waste money on this stuff

I thought the movie was awful too, but in a "so bad it's good" way. I'd recommend seeing it to find out how ridiculous it is.
