Hmm. If HD DVD can't move copies of catalog titles like Casablanca and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, why release something like The War or Streets of Fire? With more prominent catalog titles stuck moving under a thousand copies, does this even have a shot of selling in the triple digits?

Diane Lane in Streets of Fire is 3 kinds of hot but I agree that this is a curious choice.

Probably not, but I'll buy one. :)

In Good Company will also be included with Universal's July 24 releases.

That's good news. I've been holding off on getting the SD-DVD since I figured Universal would release it in HD at some point. Now where are the other Weitz Bros. flicks like About a Boy and American Pie?

I think it was listed among Universal's 2007 titles. I can't imagine it won't be released at some point in the near future. I just hope they improve the transfer. The SD-DVD looks like ass.

Sony Delays 'Wild Things,' 'Blood & Chocolate" Blu-ray Releases

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is rejiggering two titles in its summer Blu-ray release slate, announcing street date delays for 'Wild Things' and 'Blood & Chocolate.'

The studio originally scheduled the Blu-ray release of 'Blood & Chocolate' for May 29, but will now deliver the release two weeks later on June 12.

Also seeing a bump is 'Wild Things' which is now due July 17, also two weeks after its originally-announced street date of July 3.

The delay of both titles is due to replication delays, and neither release will see any changes to its tech specs or supplemental features.

List price remains set at $28.95 each.

There's been no announcement that I know of but Amazon just shipped the HD DVD of District B13 to me today. I also have War Within, One Last Thing, Enron, Bubble, & Lost City on order all with a June shipping date.

Here are some new pics from http://www.thelookandsoundofperfect.com. A previous Universal press release indicated these would be July releases.

Shaun of the Dead!

Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Darkman....

Universal you rock!

mdc3000 05-10-07 10:15 AM

i'm really looking forward to Hot Fuzz and Darkman...I really hope Darkman gets a decent transfer though (crosses fingers). I love Shaun, but I probably won't upgrade that one just yet - too many other great titles on the way.

Giles 05-10-07 11:58 AM

regarding 'Shaun' I seriously doubt the 'zombie' commentary which is exclusive to the Region 2 SE, will get ported over the HD-DVD version either... (sigh) oh well.

Well, looking at some of those Warner titles on there I'm really looking forward to Heat, The Goonies and the Dirty Harry flix (hopefully these will be available separately) on BD.

chente 05-10-07 11:44 PM

I guess it's too much to ask that Cat People be the Warner title not the Universal one.

fryinpan1 05-11-07 05:50 AM

Some of those "coming soon" titles should be listed as "coming at some point" titles.

Amadeus (1984) & One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1975) were mentioned for February 2008 releases.

Heat was mentioned for 2008 in the last WB HTF chat.

North by Northwest was mentioned for 2009 in the last WB HTF chat. WB said it needed remastering again and they would wait for the 50th Anniversary before they re-released it.
