uhasljfhansd?

But yeah, I'm not buying combo discs either. Unless they're priced the same as a regular HD-DVD. I don't see any reason to have the SD version.

I do realize it's for people who might want to go to HD in the future, but that just seems stupid to me. The combo discs are so hidden and if the combo disc costs twice the amount of a regular DVD, where's the value?

I like Combo-Discs...they grow on you, sure they are more expensive, but I only have 1 Hd-dvd drive and when I want to travel...or watch a movie with my wife in our room it is perfect.

I like the combo format. Especially on new releases it pushes me to make the purchase. For Miami Vice, Superman Returns, etc. it made my choice easier. Amazon has had some pretty good price IMHO.

If I was Warner I would price the combo format the same, almost ALWAYS put a dvd track on the HD-Disc, and even MARKET these discs to current dvd buyers. Market it as future-proofing and even helping push the consumer to upgrade to the new player. Disc returns will be way down over the long haul if these discs will also play in a regular dvd drive.

The only bummer people have with combo format discs at all is two reasons:
1. "I DON'T WANT TO PAY FOR IT". This is why they should just charge the same standard price for the combo format disc. Just make it automatic. All discs are combo format and all priced at a lower price than currently.
2. "I DON'T WANT THEM TO WASTE THE DISC SPACE" Most Movies could get a dvd track on the disc that looks very nice for under 4gb. Many, many discs released to date easily had an extra 4gb of space. I think it was well worth it as a free extra upgrade to the consumer. Our players are backwards compatible, so why not the discs? HD-DVD has a done a great job in the beginning and this type of thinking could put them over the top.

Is Field of Dreams going to be a combo disc? I've seen a couple different sites with conflicting information.

I believe it's been changed to a standard release.

i keep all my discs in pristine condition, and treat them like a baby.
however, my double sided ones are still scratched to shit.
and i can't figure out why for the life of me.

Totally agree and I absolutly love the Combo discs. Sure the price needs to come down but beyond that I wish every release was a combo release. I only have 2 HD Players but have like 4 regular DVD players including 2 portable and 1 in my darkroom. The Combo allows me to sell my SD copy of a movie if I already owned it and spares me from having to buy a SD copy if I didnt own it. Believe it or not the one place where I watch like 50% of all my movies is in my darkroom. It makes the tedious task of film development fun and makes the time fly by when I am watching a flick.

Bottom line is that until HD-DVD players become portable and replace all of my SD DVD players that I own, I will always have a use for the SD version. I think Combo's are here to stay so love em or hate em I think you should get used to them. Thankfully I am on the love em side of the fence.

PS>.

Huge thumbs up to that. I'll have the XBOX HD add-on by the end of the month, but that will be the only HD player in my home until they become affordable enough for me to outfit my bedroom and son's room with them as well. The thought of shelling out extra cash for both the SD and HD versions of a film will prompt me to buy combo only for the time being.

Good Night, and Good Luck and Animal House are also combos.

I guess I can't really complain much about combos, seeing as I've only bought 3 of them out of over 30 HD DVD titles that I have. It's not that I've avoided them; there just haven't been that many that I've wanted. So, overall it hasn't added much expense, especially when I got them all for under $20 each (thank you, Google!).
