That explains it. You might as well have sent it via pony express. UPS ground from CA to NY will take a solid 7 business days. You can't blame Sean Digi. You are too cheap

Stop buying so many next-gen DVDs and equipment so have money for shipping.

I have a small package being delivered UPS Ground right now. Tracking shows that it arrived in town on Thursday. They will bother to deliver it on Monday. Meanwhile, we received a different UPS package on Thursday and another today.

Ive had problems with all of them.

USPS Priority - had 2 packages stolen with no reimbursement
UPS - Slow delievery sometimes when its at the local facility (like Spiky said), leaving packages on porch when I leave a note saying not to.
Fed Ex - Wont leave package even when I sign the slip they leave. It says to sign it and they will leave the package. They dont. Then I have to drive to pick it up from their facility.

Overall, I like Fed Ex the best. I AVOID USPS when possible.

Well, I have the 604 up and running...Why is it that each time you upgrade, it gets harder and harder to set up? But anyways, love it, sounds great and I got to throw away a shit load of old cords.

Back to the topic of switchers, holding off on a new reciever a little longer - have not had my 53TX that long, I placed an order with monoprice for a switcher and some cables. I decided to just trust my fellow DVDTalkers and end my cable switching hell.

My question is, roughly how wide is the switch box. Will it sit beside my PS3 on top of my A1 or is it a little too big for that?

I don't know, but you have your PS3 on top of your A1? You haven't had any problems with heat, have you? I usually avoid placing a component directly on top of another because I'm afraid it will cause heat problems, but in this case I might make an exception since the A1 is so big. I figure I could set a PS3 on top of it and it wouldn't cover enough of it to cause the A1 to overheat. I'd only be using one of them at a time anyway.

It's about 3" wide.

Well, first off they never run at the same time and both are on top of my rack not inside it. Lots of nice free air around them. The Toshiba vents out the back and the PS3 vents all over the place. I figure both of them are running monster fans so that much open air combined with only one in use at any given time is pretty safe. I have so many components I have to stack anyways, only so much space (LD, VHS, Cable, HD-DVD, PS3, Cassette, MiniDisc, 300 CD Changer, Reciever - I actually took out two components recently due to space - turntable and VOOM box for OTA HD).

Okay, thanks. Speaking of stacking components and the PS3 putting out heat all over, I think I know now why the console is curved on top.

Craig, LOTS more Onkyo owners having HDMI passthrough issues...

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...ighlight=onkyo

seems that earlier versions might need a firmware patch and/or a transistor and Onkyo techs have acknowledged this! If you get the receiver, let us know how it is!

It seems that the problem is mostly from Samsung units, and PS3 issues. I don't see in that thread the issues you are talking about with the unit itself.

Well I have the 604 and it looks fantastic, no issues...One thing is now I have my cable box hooked up through HDMI and it looks much better than before when I had it hooked up with component. I had some wierd issues where I had some red flickering constantly. I think it was because of my old reciever not doing a good job at passing the signal. But now no problems at all.

gotcha, just weird that the owners connecting directly have no issues but through the onkyo they do. HDMI and their dirty little handshakes...

True, but remember, there is no way of knowing whether those same problems would arise using any other receiver in place of the Onkyo with the Samsung player. My guess is that they would. The Onkyo 600 series appears to be by far the most popular HDMI receiver line right now, so it only makes sense that there will be more reports of "problems" using those receivers.

I'm heavily considering one of those Onkyo receivers, but I think I'll wait for my birthday.
