I will definitely be getting T2 and The Fog. Well worth the import price, IMO.
I just finished The Fog, another stunner from Studio Canal. I hadn't seen it for awhile & it scared the shit out of me lol! Great detail, very vivid colors, another thumbs up!

One of my all-time favorite Arnie movies. Can't wait to watch the BD, which I hope looks as good as the import HD-DVD.

Favorite most quoted lines:

"Cohaagen, these people need ay-yar!"

"You make me wish I had three hands!"

You missed #1 by a mile:

"Consider it a davorce".

I have them both (for now, anyways lol)... stay far, far away from the BD Total Recall, the import HD-DVD blows it away. I'm not a Blu-basher either, the transfer is just that damn wretched in comparison.

I watched the Hulk HD DVD today and came away thoroughly impressed. Whatever you think about the movie, this is a film that looks stunning on HD DVD. The close-ups of the actors show an amazing amount of detail (it's a good thing Jennifer Connelly and Eric Bana are so photogenic, because this transfer would bring out every blemish), and the backdrops look great as well. My only regret is picking it up at FYE, because I figured there was no way Best Buy would have it out on time. Lo and behold, there were a bunch of copies at BB. :P Anyway, this is a must-have title unless you really hate the movie.

Well, you do get to see all the cracks in Sam Elliott & Nick Nolte's faces lol! I just finished Hulk & I agree with everyone else, just dynamite. PQ King of the superheroes so far, Batman and Supes both got left behind.

Too late.

Looks like I'll be checking out the import.

I haven't watched the BD yet, but the reviews seemed positive which is why I picked it up.

Recieved Total Recall and The Fog today for HD-DVD and I absolutly agree with the previous statments. Total Recall looked amazing and I only sampled The Fog but it looks great as well. I am about to go down and watch The Hulk and am purty excited based on the feedback so far. Cant wait to see the Utah scenes!!

Question, has anyone recieved or even ordered the Harry Potter film from the UK yet? If so how is the PQ and whats the extra content on the disc? I was really tempted to purchase this today even tho I know its coming to the US soon, I have no problem paying a little extra to getit early if the title is worth it. Any info would be appreciated!!

PS...

It's my new #1 reference for both PQ & True HD AQ, worth every cent IMO. I have not watched any of the extras, but it's loaded. I believe it contains everything from the 2-disc SD plus deleted scenes in HD plus IME.

Nice man, just placed the order after reading that. Just enjoyed this film too much too wait for the politics to be sorted out for the US version. Ill take the UK and pay extra and not think twice about it. Loved this one, thx for the heads up!

So as of now any HDDVD from anywhere will play on any US HDDVD? [specifically the HDA1?] Or just those from UK? And what about the NTSC/PAL thing? I'm sorry, but I know nothing about the region compatibilities.
Can non-R1 SDVDs be played on the HDDVD/

There is no region coding for HD DVD (as of now, of course that can always change). None of the players look for region coding and none of the discs contain it either. There is no NTSC/PAL in HD world but none of the U.S. players are region free for SD DVDs.

I completely agree with Hammer about Harry Potter being my #1 HD DVD in terms of picture and sound. Just saw the Matador yesterday night and I was blown away with the image on it as well. Great movie.

When you guys say Harry Potter, you mean Goblet of Fire, right? Or could my hopes be realized and an import version of Prisoner of Azkaban is now available?

Yeah, Goblet Of Fire. After seeing the HD-DVD, I now think it's the best of the 4.

Same here in the Bay Area. All we have is Rocky III in HD. I've looked many times day after day through every possible permutation and that's all we got.

Hey Josh, I didn't know you were such a fan of Dune. The book is my favorite book and Lynch is one of my favorite filmmakers. And while I don't think Dune is Lynch's best film, it's definitely endlessly fascinating. And the sandworms are still awesome. What do you think of the version Jodorowsky planned to do?

Anyway, after reading your review, I'm buying a copy of this one ASAP.
