It was a picture of a standard HD DVD case with a Smallville picture pasted on it. Clearly just a promotional picture intended for the ad. Nothing like the beauty that is Sopranos, Season 6, Part 1.

Hopefully it will be something similar...

Updated the thread title to be more general. Plans for the The West Wing (short-term, at least) have been scrapped.

Ditto. I own Season 1-3 off Smallville, I would love to have Season's 4-6 in HD. Season's 1's video ticks me off so much when I watch it, I could see buying it in HD.

TV Shows I want in HD:
1. Smallville
2. Heroes (if it is as good as it looks)
3. Veronica Mars (Just started watching the show, I am in love with it)
4. Monk

Another agreement for VM in HD...UPN wasnt HD here in NYC so the first 2 seasons I had to watch Veronica in regular old TV land (thankfully the CW will be in HD!!!), so this would be a must buy for me.

There's lots of great shows that could be early choices. Some that I'd like to see:

Veronica Mars
Battlestar Galactica
Gilmore Girls
Six Feet Under
any/all Law & Order shows
any/all Star Trek shows

and I'd love to see them continue/catch up with Smallville and The Sopranos.

EDIT: And the Twilight Zone from Image Entertainment!

^ I haven't bought any Battlestar Galactica DVDs (a blind buy for me) because I figure that it will benefit from HD DVD and will likely be one of the first TV on HD DVD titles Universal offers. Glad to see WB pushing ahead on sets.

However, I expect the first TV sets out of the gate to be pretty pricey.

Come on, people, say it with me: Twin Peaks in HD! Now owned by Paramount, no less.

regarding buffy in hd, the first few seasons will still look like shit because it was shot in 16mm and with low lighting, and Joss Whedon has stated many times he shot and composed buffy for full frame with the exception of "once more with feeling", so i don't see hd anytime soon.

Actually it would be called pillar boxed HD...

You're right, full-frame HD would be 1.77:1.

Wow!

Two things that would probably bring me into the HD-DVD camp:

Angel
Babylon 5 (depends, dunno if this would look OK, the cropping/upscaling of the CG looks pretty iffy right now on DVD)

Again, Angel is Fox, so Blu-ray on that one.

Don't know who owns Babylon 5. Paramount, maybe? If so, that would be on HD DVD.

Don't know who owns Babylon 5.
Warner Brothers owns Babylon 5... But GreenMonkey is right. Without a major restoration where the CG effects are completely redone, and framed for 1.78, there is no point of an HD-DVD release.

Maybe they could correct their mistake and release it 4x3 pillarboxed on HD-DVD.
