I'll be in charge of that one.

It'll be called the "Sony will rim my ass when I say they should" petition.

I'm entirely fed up with their bullshit and don't care if they ever release on HD DVD.

It does seem odd for studios other than Sony not to come out with HD-DVD. It is cheaper to make, and they would sell. That makes them money. Put product out there and see how much sells. The format war should be won based on the product rather than support. I don't see the financial incentive for studios other than Sony to do otherwise.

I think the only reason Fox supports BD is because they supposedly offer better copy protection.

Sony could single-handedly end this war if they really wanted to. It just makes no sense .

"..better copy protection" or not... some bored teenager with too much time on his hands is gonna crack it one day

I believe the studios, CE manufacturers, etc. fell for the hype (just like WE did). There are probably deals/contracts/agreements that can't be broken quickly between them and BD/Sony.

For example, studios may have to release on BD even if they don't want to. Who knows what's going on behind the curtain. I mean Disney was the big gun pushing BD50 and BDJ. Why would they release inferior product on BD25?

Word is that Sony is subsidizing the higher cost of manufacturing BD which won't last forever either.

I called Sony and at first they thought I was a representative of a company or something. I had to admit I was just a consumer though. They took my info and said someone would call me back, but I doubt that's going to happen.

Still, I think we should keep peppering these guys with requests for HD DVD. We can wear them down eventually.

Oh yeah, be sure to mention DIVX when writing/talking to Fox and Disney.

Any copy protection superior to dvds should get them to do something. They may not like pirating, but nothing will ever stop it. But the money is still there to be made if they want it. Must be some agreement made or something.
