More BD titles delayed!

http://www.dvdtown.com/announcement/...itlesrem/3514/

Sony has delayed some of it's titles originally scheduled for a June 20th release. "Last Waltz" and "Knight's Tale" will be moved back to July 25th.

"Legends of the Fall," "Kung Fu Hustle" and "Resident Evil: Apocalypse" has been removed from the list all together. No new date was given.

Sony has not commented on the delays.

Blu-ray is scheduled to launch on June 20th only 8 days away.

Sorry...just checked and saw the other titles.

I'm wondering if they'll all be postponed at this point. Who knows.

50 FIRST DATES
THE FIFTH ELEMENT
HITCH
HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS
A KNIGHTS TALE
TERMINATOR
THE LAST WALTZ
XXX

Sorry for shouting, but I copy/pasted and couldn't be assed to change it all.

There were, what, 2 titles for HD DVD at launch? And after a good deal more had been scheduled to appear. Frankly these reductions seem to be endemic to both formats.

3. But your list needs revision. The Terminator, The Last Waltz, and A Knight's Tale have been delayed until 7/25.

I think it was 2, with the third delayed a few days. BTW has Terminator been delayed now as well?

Last Samurai, Phantom of the Opera, and Serenity were all available at launch. Million Dollar Baby came out a few days later.

They have been moved back... to June 27 (one week).

Not removed. New date: July 25.

You know that when you decide to buy something like this, you are just an early adopter. It's like being a smoker. You just know that you are a smoker, and it probably isn't the best thing for you. If all this type of news came out for a new car, we would all sit back and see how many bugs were in the model before we bought one. Fortunately, it isn't nearly as expensive as a new car, but maybe as irritating.

I wish they would just announce a delay of everything until May 2008, and then we could all feel good about it coming out nearly a year and a half early.

Jeez you're not much of a "homer" are ya??

WB, Fox, and BV will all be annoucing their titles as soon as the June launch of the Samsung player is confirmed. WB and Universal did the same thing for HD DVD by waiting for confirmation of the hardware being released before confirming more than a handful of titles.

By the way... BD is gonna win!!!!!!!!

If people already have the players, wouldn't confirmation already have come?

It may very well "win". In fact, it probably will "win". However, I fail to see any way, by any stretch of even the wildest imagination, that such a scenario could possibly be viewed as a personal victory by anyone in this or any other DVD-related forum. But that obvious reality seems to escape some of the BD supporters.

Just as much as HD winning won't be a personal victory to anyone on this forum, even though many here act like it would be (not necessarily you, Robo), so the door swings both ways.

While I agree with you that neither format "winning" would constitute any kind of personal victory for anyone (outside of the idiots at Sony and Toshiba who had the chance to create ONE format and blew it, thanks to their overly large egos) I would defy you to find many people in this forum who have demonstrated any significant bias toward HD DVD. I know I have none.

My only bias is against arrogant, condescending people who wrongly perceive themselves as smarter or better than others, and for having accomplished nothing more than allowing themselves to become emotionally attached to a home video format. From what I have seen here (and to a lesser extent at AVS), there are more BD supporters than HD DVD supporters that fall into that category.

I can easily name one person who is as pro-HD as the worst pro-BD people here, but I'll let them speak for themselves.

And I agree that no one on either side should take it so personally. Personally, I prefer the specs on BD. If HD should win, I won't cry about it. I'll watch the BD movies I have on my PS3 and wait till Pioneer comes out with a really awesome HD player and buy it.

Of course, if either side loses, I think we will see a proliferation of dual players, so it won't be a big loss for anyone other than Sony or Toshiba.

I sure hope that's the case. I suppose it will depend on how long it takes to end the war. But if BD wins (which is the more likely outcome), and with Sony's attitude, they may just decide to "punish" people who backed the wrong format.

They are still doing that with SACD, even though both have essentially lost.
