Which Players(s) will you buy?

OK - quick poll

What are your thoughts on what players you'll be buying?

Lots of options to choose from.

Let's call PS3 a 2nd Gen player, for convenience in this poll

Considering the quality of the PS2 as a DVDp, that is certainly generous.

Im in no hurry. I love my dvds and havent gone HD yet (and wont until sets which offer 1080p inputs are more common and cheaper).

I also think PS3 should have had its own option as should XBox360 with external HD-DVD drive.

I voted 1st gen HD DVD which obviously I already have and second gen Blu-ray. At this point there seems to be little I want in 1st gen Blu-ray players or 1st gen Blu-ray discs. I think this product will be really ready in 2007 and if the price is under $500 for a player and all the bugs are worked out I will buy one. I knew going in I would have to support both and that is probably what I will do unless for some reason Blu-ray loses away a large chunk of their current exclusive studios.

My sentiments exactly, darkside.

I voted 1st gen. HD DVD. I had thought of getting a BR player, but the disc problems make it too unattractive. I have the feeling that if I did buy the SL BR movies, they would be made obsolete within a year by DL reissues. As an alternative, I am actually contemplating purchasing a second Tosh 1st gen player for my living room. I'm afraid the next gen. players won't have the same upscale quality level built in. Also the players in a way aren't really "permanent" 1st gen. since they are firmware upgradable.

I voted 1st Gen BD since I did not read your post and considered the PS3 a 1st Gen

I voted the first option since I have the HD-A1 and won't be buying BD this year. I'm gonna wait at least a year to see if Fox starts backing HD DVD before I consider BD. Oh, and the price has gotta drop at least 50% for me to buy a standalone player.
