Constantine - 1st IME HD DVD

``Constantine,'' Warner Home Video's First HD DVD With In-Movie Experience, Debuts June 6
Tuesday May 23, 1:13 pm ET
``Firewall'' and ``The Perfect Storm'' Also Debut on HD DVD

BURBANK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 23, 2006--Warner Home Video (WHV) has announced the June 6 release of "Constantine," their first HD DVD title with the new In-Movie Experience feature (IME). IME raises the bar of interactivity, allowing viewers to enjoy new ways of accessing interviews and other material -- while the movie is running -- to find out more about the filmmaking process. The IME for "Constantine" features director Francis Lawrence leading an exploration of the plot, stunts, characters and production of "Constantine."

I saw this in another article. Batman Begins and The Dukes of Hazzard are also supposed to get the new super-duper "In-Movie Experience".

The Perfect Storm in HD should be fun.

As long as it doesn't have the "In-Jessica's-Daisy-Duke's Experience."

the only IME that I'd personally like to see is the 'Batman Begins' one - ugh to sit through 'Firewall' multiple times or make it longer than it already is, would be masochistic.

Yes, thank you. This is the one I'm buying and wanting an experience like this with.
The in movie experience of Constantine and Dukes of Hazzard should just be someone popping up on screen to tell you how fucking stupid you were for buying these movies.

I wish they would do something similar to what AMC is doing with their "Much More Movie" experience. I love that kind of stuff.

How is this different from something like that rabbit feature on the original Matrix release? Accessing features that way is annoying.

it's not accessing.

it's running the entire time. you don't have to do anything. it's the same thing as a commentary.

I'd DEFINITELY wait if you're thinking of ordering. All the prices are far too high.

The Perfect Storm is discounted to 19.99, but the other 2 are full price. I'm sure the prices will change closer to release. I've noticed sometimes they don't discount releases until after they are out.

For me, the only extras I want during the movie are commentaries and trivia tracks. I would prefer all other extras be elsewhere on the disc. This "In Movie Experience" seems slightly annoying to me.

Does anyone know if these IME extras will be accessable elsewhere besides during the actual movie?

It's the same thing as a commentary. It just has video to go along with it. I don't know what's "slightly annoying" about that. I love it.

No. It's only available by watching the movie. No doubt it's included at a lower resolution (since it's a small box on the screen) so that's how it's able to fit.

What I was getting at, is that if it is an extra that runs through the entire movie, that's fine, but if the IME only happens once in a while, that is what I would like to access elsewhere (my assumption). For me to sit through the movie again if there is not constant information (commentary, trivia tracks, IME?), I find that "slightly annoying".

For some reason I am envisioning something similar to Big Fish or X-Men where the behind the scenes stuff only pops up once in a while.

Nope. It runs throughout the ENTIRE movie...just like a commentary. When a certain scene comes on, there will be making of footage of them shooting that exact shot as well as interviews with cast and crew.

Gotcha. I will be interested to see how informative this stuff is. i.e. would a 30 minute making-of documentary be better than stretching it out for the whole movie?

You could say the same thing about commentaries.

Again, i don't know how much further we can take "extras" at this point and I'm not sure we should take them further.

I remember when this used to be about the movies themselves. Studios, unfortunately, prefer to make special editions out of every piece of crap out there.

I want Batman Begins as well. I sold off my deluxe copy thinking it would be a Warner launch title. I should have kept it until a release date was official.

I’m smarter about it now… I just sold my SD copies of Unforgiven, Training Day and Constantine.

Amazon has now lowered the price of Constantine to $19.99, $17.71 after discounts.

Didn't they do this with those New Line discs? I remember "John Q" had something like this and didn't the last Austin Powers dvd have it too?

Again...this runs THE ENTIRE LENGTH OF THE MOVIE and it's a small box that pops up on the lower right-hand corner. It's not intermittent.

You don't have to press any buttons. There's no "follow the white rabbit." It's essentially a video commentary that doesn't stop.

This kind of thing wouldn't be possible on SD DVD.
