What i think people are realising (even after the lackluster BR showing right now) is the future. HD-DVD is looking as good as its going to get, right now, today. Dual layer blanks and high end encoding. And ive seen plenty of HD-DVD movies and have yet to be impressed. In fact, i was super disapointed in what i saw.
BR doesnt look as good right now, but titles are similar in quality, perhaps more on the softer/not as crisp side as HD-DVD. And this is with SL discs and MPEG2. Whats going to happen once the bugs are sorted out and the BR engine is firing on all cylinders? Again, i have faith in the future of this format, not just to satisfy my needs with a weak selection of films and low quality players. Patience, baby. This format is going away anytime soon.

I have no doubt they will work out the bugs (and their discs will look essentially identical to HD-DVDs). But how long will it take? It could be too late. They could have destroyed HD-DVD easily, but continue to make mistake after mistake.
With it now looking like it'll be October until the Sony player is out, people are only left with the overpriced, low-quality Samsung and damaged discs to play on it. They are clearly behind the 8-ball at this point and had everything looking like a clear victory at the end of last year.

So...by Blitz's logic....
BD is better because it will eventually possibly get better and HD DVD is bad because it can't (in his opinion) get any better, even though it looks absolutely outstandingly fantastic already.
God, I hate it when someone quotes him. Then I have to actually SEE what moronic things he's saying.

I swear I think some of the BD supporters could be sold a platter of dog crap and would slap down 1000.00 for it and think it was the best dog crap ever just because Sony says so.
and say what you will about HD-DVD but we only paid 500.00 for a much better platter.

I wonder what Blitz6Speed would think if his boss thought like this:
"Blitz, I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but I'm choosing Fred for the new VP position. Your resume appears to be in order and you sure are qualified... and, frankly, I have no problem with your work. However, I like Fred. And given enough time and a lot of work, he may even eventually perform as good as you do now. But even if he doesn't, he's only asking for twice the salary you are. I'm sorry."

I honestly just don't get this format zealotry. I don't consider it "settling" -- I'd call it the polar opposite, actually -- to enjoy the highest quality video format available now. If/when Blu-ray offers a compelling alternative, I'll buy into that too, but now, it's practically beyond argument that HD DVD is the superior product at present. It's not a one-format-or-nothing proposition.

Your a fanboy because your blindly loyal to a product that in its current state is inferior to its competitor. For some reason, you have NO doubts that BD will end up superior and win the format war.
For most of us, we care about one thing. Quality HD material on disc. I dont care if it ends up being BD or HD-DVD (or even both!).
You expect us to bow down to Sony just because of some promises that they make. We want to see proof. Which only HD-DVD has provided thus far.
Right now, I have an HD-DVD player and am enjoying it thoroughly. You, on the other hand, have numerous delays, inferior quality and promises of things to come.
Good luck with all that.

Can people PLEASE STOP quoting those posts? It literally sucks all of the fun out of reading the thread. There is no logic in them so you can't argue/debate any of the "points."
And, as has already been pointed out, it completely defeats the purpose of using the ignore list.
