Oh, and I want to add that it's my first experience with a "smart" dvd player.
I was watching a movie, and I had to leave the house half-way through. So I ejected the movie, turned everything off and left. Later that night, I decided to finish watching the movie. I inserted the disc and, expecting to go through chapters to get to where I left off, I was surprised to see that the player remembered exactly where I had left off, even after I had ejected the disc, and was where it began playing the movie - no studio logo, no FBI warning - just where I last left off.

I tried this on mine and it didn't work.

I had a 12% reward zone coupon so it was only $175!

I have a Pioneer that remembers a few discs (maybe 3-5), so they can be swapped back and forth. Usually doesn't come up, but sometimes neat when the kids argue over which movie to watch.

BTW, the Sony DVD players are pretty badass, you can just turn off the dvd player right away and it will still remember. Plus I think it can remember up to 8 disks.

Picked up the HD drive last week for $160 at Circuit City, and I am very impressed. King Kong looked absolutely amazing. Only other HD-DVD I have right now is Goodfellas, but Batman Begins is next on my list.

OK, I need some kind of faq for this add-on. Is there a site that I can be directed to? I want to know the physical limitations of the audio and video of the unit, like optical not being able to carry TrueHD, all audio getting output as DD and the limitations of getting 1080p.

Two questions about HD DVDs and specifically this one.
First, I just stepped into the the HD World (buying my first set on Black Friday) so I dont know alot about the technology. Here are my two questions:
1) Will this addon make my regular DVDs look better or only HD DVDs. I think I heard there was a way to hack into regular DVDs for beter PQ.
2) How does it connect? If it only uses HDMI I may be trouble as my set has been known to have problems with HDMI and I have thus avoided using it.
oh yeah and 3
3) I am out of composite (red blue green) cable inputs on my TV with my cable box and 360 using them both. How can I hook this up without more inputs and no HDMI and still get HD resolution?
Thanks in advance

The 360 has NO HDMI output....
Actually, it uses the SAME component cables running from your 360, so you will not need any extra inputs on your TV. You just plug the HD-DVD addon into your 360 via USB and that is it.

To reinstate what DJ_L posted, you will be fine. The component cable you're currently using is all you need. The HD-DVD add-on is simply a drive. The Xbox 360 does all the processing of video, decoding of audio, etc.
You should be aware, however, that the component cable will not pass a 1080p video signal for watching HD-DVDs. You just purchased a new HDTV so that may be important (depends if your HDTV is 1080p capable).

I thought last weeks update included 1080p over component support?

There are many reports that it upconverts on component too for the time being but an update will probably fix that.
