Pioneer BDR-101A Done. Awaiting AACS Approval
The Germans get another peak at a pre-production version of a Blu-Ray drive. This time, its the Pioneer BDR-101A which is expected to retail for $975 with all necessary reading and writing software bundled with it (this is nearly twice the price of the Samsung SH-B022). The drive is done, and performs perfectly.
It would have been in the hands of their customers at the end of January, but the final AACS meeting was delayed. If all goes well, they will be out by the end of February.

DVD Talk Special Edition
I am very surprised how fast these bruners are being introduced. I don't see me buying one until they reach the $200-300 range.....assuming media is reasonably priced as well. Expensive media will delay alot of people from buying the drives as well.
