New Smilies are too dark

Hi! 
The new Smilies are a nice idea (ie 3d shading), but they are too dark - the shading obscures the "features" of the face, and I can no longer tell what the "expression" is on the face.
I have my monitor setup using Video Essentials DVD, so it isn't my monitor.
