Another questionable ad choice?
Am I just being overly-sensitive, or is this side-bar ad somewhat disturbing?

Re: Another questionable ad choice?
Disturbing yes. Along with a huge WTF. :whofart:

Re: Another questionable ad choice?
Kinda questionable. I mean, you'd see girls in swimsuits like that in the Target ad, but showing her next to adult women in considerably "sexier" bikinis does raise an eyebrow.

Re: Another questionable ad choice?
My eyes were drawn to the first two, not surprisingly, and I was thinking how it wasn't disturbing, just inappropriate based on forum rules. Then I saw the bottom one, and WTF? Yeah, that's pretty bad, in that context.
The other thing that gets me is that we're not supposed to post any 'racy' pics, due to the impact it could have on advertising revenue, yet we get those ads? Really? |
Re: Another questionable ad choice?
Click the blue X in the top corner and report, please. That ad is I think an unintentionally poor taste juxtaposition.
andicus to my knowledge the only ban on photos dealing with Google rank/ad revenue is nudity. |
Re: Another questionable ad choice?
Good to know, Joel. I know it has lightened up a bit, as to what can be posted. At one point it seemed a simple pic of an attractive woman was met with disapproval, but I haven't seen anything called out, lately.
Thanks! |
Re: Another questionable ad choice?
I didn't notice that was a little girl until I zoomed in. The adjacency to the suggestive adult pics definitely sexualizes the child.

Re: Another questionable ad choice?
There’s a legit way to advertise unders for youngins.
That ain’t it. |
Re: Another questionable ad choice?
Please report the ad with the blue "x". Almost all of our ads are programmatic, essentially meaning they are "blind" placements. i.e. we don't directly purchase/approve them and they're placed by an algorithm

Re: Another questionable ad choice?
Based on your direction last time, I did. Does that do any good about the inappropriateness of the ad though? There was a checkbox for "the ad was inappropriate" but nothing to specify the reason. I'm still getting plenty of sexy women ads (which I'm a pig, so I'm OK with), so that tells me they didn't really look into the reason. I highly doubt they picked that out right away. I got the impression it was just more of a "Sorry, we'll shovel other shit your way."
Maybe its just me, but I didn't feel that that was "reporting the ad" as much as it was "you are inadvertently giving us more permission to target you." |
