It would be great if you tag a user and they receive a notification, either PM or email that they've been mentioned (shouted out).

It wouldn't be bothersome at all if there is an option to turn it off.

I'll see what's stopping us from getting this. We have it on our other forums (as well as quote notifications).

That's an interesting idea. Could be helpful for those of us who chose ubiquitous usernames (the second time 'round...).

They wouldn't be PMs, but you would be able to disable notifications for user mentions.

So guys, if you click on your name and go to your public profile, you'll see a "Mentions" tab and it will list all the time someone has @'ed you. Just click on the thread title and it will take you directly to the post where you're mentioned.

I know it was mentioned in other threads, but don’t see it here; how do you tag a user?

Type "@" then look for the name on the list.

@sonic Hmm, might not work in Safari, or maybe it’s my editor setting.

Full CKEditor is the ideal editor to have full functionality.

Or you can put the actual tags around the name [ utag ] name [ /utag ] (without the spaces), that will work in the other editors.
