I think this site needs a Dark Mode option. The white and light grey are too bright. Make it so, please.

There are some mods to browsers that can do it I believe. We discussed it in another thread at one point.

I thought Adam had said it was just a skin that could be tweaked for this purpose, but maybe I'm mis-remembering. Oh well.

I don't know what browser you use, but there is an extension for chrome called "Dark Reader." I tested it on this site and it does work.

Dark Reader does work but (IMO) it looks awful by default. I haven't tried messing around with the settings it has. Surprised to hear it's not possible with the forum software for a new layout? I'd be happy if we could just make the overall background gray rather than white.

I've been wishing for a Dark Mode for years as well.

Somthing as "easy" as simply changing a skin should be possible. Don't know why it's not, and we have to rely on browser add-ons (which are NOT ideal for myriad reasons) to get this simple tweak done.

Because it is not that easy - there is still a lot of work involved.

I use Night Mode on my Android phone. If that helps...
