Anonymous Mod is an alright dude. Just wish the anonymous mod would sign his name to stuff (like closing threads, changing thread titles, etc).

The forum software doesn't allow for an indefinite amount of time for an OP to edit the thread title. It specifies "minutes" actually. It was set to 12 min, I changed it to 30 min. I'm assuming the idea is that after a certain amount of time the thread title becomes known to the community, so the software would like the OP to "check in" with the mods to get the title changed.

I also noticed that the option to add a poll after you start a thread was turned off. I turned that on to 30 min also, but again it literally only allows minutes as a time frame. But you should be able to throw in a poll now if you start a thread and then remember that you wanted to add a poll.

I hope that helps a little.

Nice.

I think that's a great improvement and should work well.

Why 30 minutes? Why not 1440 minutes? Or 99999 minutes?

As Vin says, the likely reasoning is that, after a certain amount of time, the thread title becomes known to the community, so the software writers are effectively prompting the OP to "check in" with the mods to get the title changed.

FWIW: just looking at Book and Music Talk, slower forums where threads stay on the front page for longer than elsewhere, I probably receive one or two thread-title change requests a month.

On principle, I will always email Groucho for thread title changes, even if I can make them myself, and even if I wasn't the one who started the thread in the first place.
