If both parties are cool with the change, I don't see a problem. Sooner or later I'll associate the new name with the old, although it will be a little jarring in the short term. Some of the other changes make me chuckle, some make me scratch my head.

To possibly be serious, I guess I'm ok with the changes too, fwiw. The traditionalist in me hates change and thinks that once you've built a community name changes can be jarring, hence the original rule. But in real life people change their own names, and friends and family get used to it.

Agreed. I think it's a bit jarring right now because there was a bit of pent-up demand. But once that settles down I don't think it will be much of an issue going forward.
