Announcing our newest Administrator...Me

Let me see if I can find that flame suit anywhere...

I realize that in this position I will never make everybody happy, but I promise to listen and try to do what's in the best interests of the community.

How about this compromise instead: you make everybody happy, but never listen and by God, never do what's best for the community.

That's crazy enough to work. I should be able to change this into a poll...

Re: Announcing our newest Administrator...Me

Just curious, what is the difference in positions? Is an admin more tech focused but still a volunteer?

It seems like it's more responsibility, but equal pay!

So far it's basically still being a mod, but with the magical powers to suspend/ban someone (which will only happen with A) mod consensus and B) communication to the posters in question). Also, I'm a liaison between all of us who are here every day and the IB staff who manage multiple sites. These are the jobs at least for now. I'm sure there will be other strange housekeeping tasks I'll have to do.

Congrats! Truly good news for the site.

But does this mean that another admin has left?

Hmmm....I never knew mods didn't have suspend/banning powers. Good luck with the new endeavor!

Mods can move/delete/merge threads. They can edit and delete posts. AND they can type in italics for warnings!

Re: Announcing our newest Administrator...Me

I hope that this one goes better than that Arab Spring. I do feel that a lot of the recent stuff was overblown, but that's how things happen sometimes. They simmer for a while and one day blow up for no apparent reason. But, if that's what makes this forum better, I'll take it.

How do people get suspended then? A mod has to ask an admin to do it?

I don't think congrats is the right thing to say, because I think being "promoted" to admin would suck, but you seem to like it, so congrats!
