Re: Forum Database Errors

I just got the banned message. I didn't realize how much this forum meant to me before that moment. For a split second, I felt like I just got dumped. Shock. Hurt. Fear. Sorrow.

Re: Forum Database Errors

Hi all,

Whew, that was no fun at all.

Tech did a hardware update yesterday and there were some unanticipated glitches, as you saw.

PLEASE report to me if there's any weirdness still happening. As of this morning, all of that should have been handled, no data loss, etc. If there's anything at all carrying over from yesterday, let me know and I'll get Tech on it.

Thank you for hanging in there!

Paul

Re: Forum Database Errors

I can get into the sports forum, but I can't get to the second page of this thread (set at 40 posts per page). I can click Go Advanced or quote someone on the first page and then I can see the posts on the second page (below the text box to type a reply), but clicking to see the second page just loads the first page.

I still can't get into Otter, a fact some people may find advantageous beyond measure.

Since page numbering is relative, are you able to see all posts up to this one (post #58)? If so, you should be good, as it's just a pagination thing. Let me know -- we may be able to bounce it.

I was able to see them fine all weekend when I was at home. Back in the office today and I can't get past the first page. I logged out and then was able to get to the last page, but logged back in and I'm still stuck on page 1, only able to see up to post #40.

I just changed my # of posts per page to the forum default (25 posts per page), and then I'm able to navigate to both pages 1 (posts 1-25) and 3 (posts 51-58, so maybe something in posts 41-50 is causing me problems? If I click on page 2 under this setting it just redirects me back to page 1.

I'm using Firefox here.

Edit: The problem seems to be just page 2 for me in this thread, regardless of how many posts per page. I just tried changing the setting all the way down to 5 posts per page and was able to load every one except page 2 again. Seems to be only this thread, and only page 2 of this thread. Weird.

Nope, still can't get in. Can get into Politics fine, just not Otterville. I can get into Otterville on my BlackBerry, but not my PC.

EDITED: Okay, just fixed it. I'm using FireFox and I'm not used to it; I needed to do what I used to call clearing the cache in Explorer but it's called something else in Firefox.

I was wondering what the hell I did, but figured it was an error and hit refresh and everything was fine.

Have you tried the usual -- clear your cache, try to open in another browser, etc.?

So I have something I can report to tech, can you be very specific and provide the steps to reproduce? Include your browser type & version, if you've cleared your cache, turned off problematic plugins like adblock, etc etc etc.

Yes. Movie Talk. Couldn't get in at all. I am using Firefox 20.0.1 with No Script 2.6.6.1. I didn't empty the cache. I didn't have any problems for some time even when other users reported errors. It's seem to be working fine now.
I also get the same database error message when trying to get into this thread. Firefox is set not to remember any history.

I hope this helps.

I have to recommend clearing your cache if still an issue.

Re: Forum Database Errors

My last few PMs weren't forwarded to my email. I looked in my options and the box is still checked. I also asked another member and they aren't forwarding for him either.

Re: Forum Database Errors

Guys: this is not a "report anything" thread. Please stick to the topic of database errors; if you have a different issue, report it in the appropriate thread. If you search and don't find your issue, make a new thread.
