How do I access the ability to use PM's?

Hi, all,

I'm new here (just joined yesterday), although I've been active for a few years over on blu-ray.com under the same user name.

I have lurked here on this forum from time to time as well and thought I'd finally sign up.

One question I have is how does one access the PM feature?

I got the email yesterday that my account was activated, but it says I don't have access to this yet.

Is there minimum time, membership level or number of posts one has to achieve before being able to PM?

Thanks,
Michael

Oh, BTW, I did check in the FAQ's about PM's and it didn't mention there being a specific threshold that needed to be reached for anything in order to be eligible to activate PM's.

I can't remember where I saw it posted. I think it's a certain number of posts before you have access to PMs--25 or 30 comes to mind.

Welcome.

I forget the number, it might be 10. It was set there for a reason, so members don't get spammed via PM by people signing up just for that purpose. And we frown upon new members making useless posts to get their post count up in order to PM.

When existing members are giving away things like coupons via PM it's generally assumed they want to give them to other existing members, not people who only sign up to get the coupon and we don't see again. So it serves that purpose as well. But that's up to the person giving out the coupon.

Thanks for the responses, cardsfan111 and X.

Yes, one of the admins emailed me and confirmed that there was a 10 post threshold to enable PM's. That's what I thought too, that there was some sort of threshold that needed to be met in order to access the PM feature, but didn't know what it was.

I looked in the FAQ section and I don't think it was mentioned there, at least not in the Private Messaging section I was looking in.

Thanks for the input!
Michael

P.S. Thanks for the welcome, cardsfan111!
