Is there still a rule about the number of threads that a person can start?
I seem to recall that the rule was only 3 or 4 threads started by one person on the first page.
There is a forum member who has six threads on the first page in otter. Not only does he start a lot of threads but I have noticed that he bumps a lot of old threads. |

From the forum rules:
• Attempting "forum domination". This includes creating new threads in a forum when a large number of yours are still on the first page of that forum as well as responding to so many threads in a forum that it becomes obvious that your primary purpose is to have your name appear as the last poster. This number can vary by forum and moderators will determine the appropriate numbers for those forums. Originally Posted by X Generally 4 or 5 threads created by the same person is the limit we have set. It can vary a bit due to forum activity. As I said earlier, the poster doesn't have much control over old threads that have been bumped up due to discussion by other people, but they do have the ability to let them drop off the front page of that forum before they create new ones. Most people don't seem to have a problem noticing their own threads on the front page of a forum and their recognition of a limit on creating new ones under those circumstances appears to have been easy to follow. We really don't want to say that one person's threads are more important than other peoples' and inconsistencies in applying the rules often leads to confusion so we try to be as consistent as possible. |
Re: Is there still a rule about the number of threads that a person can start?
I think traffic in general on this forum has declined to the point where this isn't really a big issue. In Otter the front page has threads that haven't been posted in for 3 days, so it's not like his threads are pushing other active ones out of sight.

If you don't like his threads, then don't read them. Is this really a problem?

You've started 26 threads in four years. I think you're safe.

Yeah, let's not discourage people from starting threads.

Not really a big deal given the circumstances in the TV forum.
