Putting it in Entertainment is a bad idea. I just watched Lost on Netflix. So I have to go to the Streaming forum to talk about it? It makes no sense.

How about a separate ebook forum, and if you read the ebook you can't talk about it in the regular Book forum?

I agree. TV should be for TV show discussion, Movies for Movie discussion.

Streaming could be to talk about the streaming services and their programming (not the programs), but I don't know if it would get much traffic.

I agree. For instance, if you want to talk about the plot of a movie or TV show, you should post in the movie or TV forum (unless it's a streaming-only show, as mentioned). If you want to talk about how said TV show or movie is just out on Netflix, you should post in the streaming forum. Of course there will be overlap, but there already is in our existing fora, so who cares?

What about for streaming-only programs? Netflix just added their first original series and we're sure to see more of that in the future.

Maybe it'd be best to create the forum and see how it evolves.

I just noticed this thread. I have thought for months that a streaming folder would be a no-brainer. I'm shocked it hasn't been added without needing to ask for it to be honest. I want to talk about Netflix all the time but never know for sure where to start a thread, or which preexisting thread to post in. So yeah, I'm all for it. I vote for Entertainment as well fwiw.

I think the consensus is Entertainment. Since this was your idea, you should PM Paul and let him know so they can get Streaming Talk going.

Yes, since HD content is streaming through several services, coupled with the array of devices that now stream, a dedicated forum would be a useful addition. My $.02

I'm in the opposite camp. I think all show/episode-specific discussion content should stay in TV, regardless of delivery method. Just because the content is limited to streaming shouldn't change the nature of the content. Right now a "TV show" can be enjoyed on various formats: broadcast, cable, DVD/BR, DirecTV, streaming, VOD, and so on, and we don't divide up those discussions by delivery method. I guess I think of "TV" these days as more of a catchall term for entertainment of a certain nature versus something strictly related to broadcast/cable content. The same way I think a direct-to-DVD or VOD movie should be discussed in Movie Talk, although given my own reasoning I'm not exactly sure where made-for-tv movies should go.

Now I do think threads like 'List of Netflix Exclusive Programming' would belong in the Streaming thread.

^ That's obvious to me too. If the conversation is about the TV show itself, it should be in TV Talk.

I've recently re-flagged this thread to IB in order that they (probably Paul) can see how the conversation developed and take action further to the reported consensus.

These days I'm streaming more content compared to watching DVDs/Blus. So I hope it turns into a great place to talk about that stuff.

to:
The Place to talk about streaming video and audio

?

Had this question in a thread on the HD forum, looks like it would apply here. What can we discuss when it comes to ripping our dvd's for personal use? I understand methods of ripping the dvd's is a no no, but how about organizing and storage? or streaming those files to our TV's? Where is the line?
